Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That!
When you think of time what do you think of? Maybe phrases like, “time doesn’t wait for anyone,” “time is of the essence,” oh and my favorite, “ASAP!” While all of the phrases I agree with, except ASAP, I do like to appreciate my time.
Yes, time is of the essence, it doesn’t wait for anyone, and it is precious. All of these hold value, but I believe it’s important to appreciate your time and cherish every moment like it’s the last.
“Well, how do I do that Dani?”
Think back to a special moment in your life you loved or hated. I say hated because again, I believe every moment and every aspect of life, good or bad, should be cherished. Think of how it felt and what you loved or hated about it.
If you can, that is exactly how every moment in your life should be spent. It should even go little deeper, to the point where you remember how the cold chlorine water running down your back felt. Right after your cousin, who plays way too much, pushed you into the deep end of the pool, and to top it off you just got your hair done. Man! Doesn’t it feel annoying all over again?
Cherishing moments and time while thinking about every feeling and detail helps to preserve the time. Thus when the mind goes back to that specific feeling it brings back a happy feeling, most of the time. Who doesn’t want to feel happy every now and then? We are here on this earth to be happy and live an abundantly filled life, plus happiness is healthy and will lead to a long life, so why not cherish the moment.
Which brings me to my next point, life is short. Imagine you’re able to go back to that memory you cherished and relive every moment, it kind of makes that short life everyone says we have, seem a little longer.
If you think about it cherishing every moment and remembering everything, all the way down to the midst of a salty beach wave gently caressing your cheek, it uplifts your spirits and takes you back to that particular place. Sometimes if you think deeper you can remember the smells, the breeze, and so much more. These memories help you realize the beauty of life.
We can’t control time but we can control the way we use it. It’s important to maximize your time and live in the present moment. You can’t go back and redo what you just did 5 minutes ago. That time is gone.
Life does throw curve balls and bills are due today by 5pm, but the direct deposit doesn’t hit your account until 12am the very next day. Even if we take the time out to enjoy moments like this, it will relieve the stress, help us to think logically, and ultimately enjoy the fullness of life.
Time is made up. Time is what you make it. If you want to watch the precious days of your beautiful life pass you by go right ahead. I’ll be over here living in the present moment, soaking up the memories, and of course living life with #nochill.
