It is bittersweet to share my latest and the final “Art with a point” illustration to be printed in this Sunday's final edition of the @washingtonpostmag titled “Another COVID Christmas.” I hope Art with a point continues to publish online and in print somehow. • I wrote, “This is going to be my second Christmas going home for the holidays while covid is still affecting millions of people. A lot of family and friends have relaxed a lot when it comes to testing and masking, but I still find myself testing and masking before heading out the door. I love my family, and I just want to feel safe that we’re all safe.” • I started working on this illustration back in late October/early November. Since then, instead of my partner and I heading there, I bought my mom and sister Amtrak tickets and helped set them up in an Airbnb nearby. Still, my partner and I are going to be masked up and tested while they’re here. I hope everyone has a fantastic, safe holiday. • Many thanks to @bmferrill for the assignment. • #drawingwhileblack #editorialillustration #artwithapoint #narrativeillustration #art #danielfishel #ofishelillo (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmcmnx4raPA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
