Album Review: 'Come Find Me' by Daniel Sefbom

The 8 track LP 'Come Find Me' was released in November 2023 by Swedish artist Daniel Sefbom and is a collection of engaging electronic instrumentals.
Come Find Me
Having written a few songs myself that were inspired by the Blade Runner film, I get the strong sense that this track is using the same source. Futuristic and otherworldly, with fantastic stereo FX pulsing through my headphones - it sets up this collection very nicely. Having no percussion, it really lets the electronica punch through the mix.
2. Greenland Shark
Anyone that's seen David Attenborough's TV programmes should know about the Greenland Shark. For those that haven't, it's a huge blind creature that swims the oceans under the ice and can live upto 500 years old. This track transports you into it's dark world. There's a prominant bass synth and some minimal percussion to help you along the way which turns out to be more and more uplifting as you progress.
3. Nothing Is Nothing
Things start to warm up with 'Nothing Is Nothing'. This track has a bit of a Tech House feel to it. It's the first track with 'full' percussion and what I think is some real bass guitar which adds another dimension.
4. Tipping Point
'Tipping Point' uses some English spoken word verses over a heavier and darker synth sound. Distorted words and synth combine to deliver a powerful track.
5. Within Cells
I like the build up on 'Within Cells' as well as the robotic vocal phrases. Slightly more experimental than the other tracks it has offbeat snare drums which compliment it nicely.
6. Emanator
I really rate highly all the introductions on these tracks and this one is no exception. For me, the rest of the track isn't quite as engaging although having said that it might work well as a TV drama chase sequence perhaps.
7. Nothing Is Something
The introduction has a great sense of space before the beat and pulsing synth kick in at around the 1 minute mark. It slowly morphs into a different style before turning a full 360 degrees and finding itself again. This version is the album extended mix.
8. More Human Than Humans
Once the glitchy intro (which I love) has finished, the final track treats us to uptempo rhythm and percussion - this one turns into a real foot-tapper! The tropical flavours are just starting to come through but all too soon our journey comes to an end.
