Meeting up to have a couple of drinks with his friend Dan was the kind of free time activity he genuinely enjoyed. Especially when it meant that he could hopefully cheer him up a little, considering the future of his friends’ marriage was uncertain right now. He’d done everything in his power today not to run late (as he usually always does), not wanting to keep him waiting and maybe even make him feel as if he was dreading meeting him - something that couldn’t be further from the truth. It wasn’t exactly a secret that Dan truly was one of his closest friends, both of them always having forgiven the other the mistakes they’ve made in the past when it seemed for a moment that their friendship wasn’t important anymore.
The fact he’d made it on time was still a little bit of a miracle to him given that one of his employees, who was currently on maternity leave, had visited the office to introduce the two-month-old baby, who - after only holding her for a minute - had decided to spit all over his shirt. Luckily for him, he always had a few spare suits at his office in case he somehow managed to get it dirty and needed to change - maybe that was also the reason why he in the end had managed to show up on time and now did just tell Dan that little story. “...I think that little one already got it right, you know, the whole spitting on politicians' thing. She’s gonna be one feisty kid one day.” He laughed softly as he looked at his friend and took a sip of the whiskey he’d ordered ten minutes ago. “Now - question before this boy's night out proceeds - do you want to talk about your trial separation and how it makes you feel or do you want to avoid that topic altogether tonight and talk about anything but that? Because you know I’m always here to listen if you want to talk but I think I’m also good at distracting anyone from their misery so it’s completely up to what you want.” @danhumphreyx
