The Sendai Tanabata festival was perhaps one of Miyagi's biggest draws to people from outside the prefecture. It drew crowds from not only across Japan, but even from other countries. For three days every year, the city of Sendai was caught up in seemingly endless celebration.
For some locals, the charm of such a festival was lost. The normally peaceful streets of Sendai (busy, though still easy enough to navigate) became as congested as Tokyo itself. Schools in the area almost felt like a lost cause, and cancelling classes for those days was almost inevitable. It was certainly good for business to the area, but at what cost?
Oikawa Tooru, on the other hand, loved it. Born and raised in Sendai, it was his greatest pleasure to see the city bloom with life and celebration. Even if classes weren't cancelled, it was no uncommon for Oikawa (and a number of his classmates) to skip regardless. Who wanted to miss out on this? The decorations, the street vendors, the noise? The fireworks in the evenings?
And so it was the Tanabata that found Oikawa roaming the streets of Sendai alone. His jersey was folded away in a small bag for once the cool evening settled in, a hat pulled over his hair to avoid too much female attention as he checked out the festivities. A skewer of yakitori was held in one hand, the brunet nibbling at the meat while walking along... until he noticed someone familiar in the crowds.
"You're not lost, are you, Chibi-chan~? You really should stick close to your mom in these kinds of crowds."
