Dancing Headcanons (Chance, Parker, Volt & Eddie)
Bad Bunny's Super Bowl performance made me want to write about how some of the Dateables would dance with you. I'm Puerto Rican, and Salsa and Bachata are dances that I participate in and adore. Baile Inolvidable was playing on loop as I wrote this.
Chance:
Chance “knows” some dances, but has never been able to put them to practice. I think he learned how to do different ballroom dances like waltz and tango specifically to learn the proper terminology so he could be extremely accurate for his G&G campaigns. After playing a session involving a masquerade ball, you’re surprised at how much Chance knows and mention in passing that you know the dances. With this newfound information, he takes to learning the steps, eventually joining a local club to take some lessons. One day, you come home to music and Chance waiting for you nervously. He offers you his hand, then places the other under your arm. It’s a maneuver your body has memorized, making you reflexively settle your own hand on his upper arm. At the small action, he lights up. Lightly, he presses you back, leading you round and round your living room. Occasionally he twirls you. It’s clear that he knows the bare basics, but it’s enough to make your heart swell. Chance never realized how intimate dancing could be. The constant attention on properly leading you, all the while you follow along enthusiastically. A back and forth of trust. As you smile up at him, he feels himself melting. He decides to attempt a risky move. Thankfully, you know exactly what he’s attempting as you allow your body to follow the guidance of his arms into a dip. Leaning close, he presses a kiss to your lips. Both of you feel each other’s smiles as you enjoy the moment.

Parker:
Parker is a clutz, he would refer to himself as such. Believing himself to have two left feet, he never attempted a dance more complex than the Cupid Shuffle. On a random day out, he discovers your talent for dancing. A live band is playing vibrant jazz as you enjoyed an afternoon in town. You see other people dancing, and decide to watch. As you see others step and twirl around, your eyes sparkle and you bounce on your toes in anticipation. A stranger notices you clearly engaged and asks if you know how to dance. You nod enthusiastically before the individual asks if you would like to dance. Turning to Parker, you ask if he’s okay with it. Not wishing to see that smile leave your face, he encourages you to go ahead. Although he’s happy you’re excitedly taking to the dancefloor, he feels a sour jealousy swirl in his gut. Obviously the interaction is platonic, the gentleman that asked you to dance is at least twenty years older than you. However, it’s still a very intimate position to be in with another person. Then and there, Parker decides to make it his mission to learn how to dance.
It takes months, but he manages to get the hang of it. Watching YouTube videos over and over, he repeatedly practices when you are away from home. The next time you witness a live jazz band, he’s ready. Offering his hand, he asks if you want to dance. At first, you wonder if he’s just messing with you, but it’s clear he’s serious. Tentatively, you take his hand. Immediately, he swings you onto the dancefloor. A surprising amount of confidence that has your attraction towards him skyrocketing. Together you step and twirl as big brass surrounds you. Exhilarating is an understatement as Parker manages to incorporate some more difficult moves into your dance. Your heart flutters at the thought that he did this all for you.

Volt:
One would think Volt would be more for the elegant ballroom dances, but in reality, he loves a good fast-paced jive. You would see him enjoy a waltz with single bar patrons at times, making you think that’s what he liked. Considering it wasn’t you preferred form of dancing, you never participated. Instead admiring the man’s elegance from afar.
However, when a big brass band comes to the bar, Volt is practically buzzing with energy. Excitedly tapping his foot to the music, he scans the room for someone looking to dance. When he lands on you swaying at the outskirts of the dancefloor, he makes his way over. His heart races as he hopes his inclinations are correct. His second lover, a dancer? Oh, he’s falling for you all over again. When he reaches you, he taps you on the shoulder asking if you wish to dance. Surprised, you ask if he knows how to swing. He nods, then offers his hand.
Immediately, you’re swung onto the dancefloor as jazz blares around you. You laugh in exhilaration as you and Volt step, kick, and spin. Volt drinks in your joyous form, wishing for the moment to never end. He can’t help but stick to you the entire night. Though you dance on-and-on, Volt never seems to tire. As if he has all of this energy to expel, and he must do so on the dance floor. Specifically, he needs to do it with you. His hands practically never leave you. The connection is electrifying. He loves to dip you, taking the moment to brush his lips over yours before fully kissing you. Each time he pulls back, you see adoration sparkle in those bright eyes. Your own eyes shine with the same amount of adoration for the man.
Songs: "Sing, Sing, Sing"- Benny Goodman, "It Had to Be You"-Harry Connick Jr., "All of Me"-Louis Armstrong
Eddie:
Eddie actually already knows how to dance. Being a bar owner, he’s seen plenty a dance and has picked up on a lot of moves himself. It helps that Volt also has a penchant for dancing, which has provided him a lot of practice. Out of the dances he knows, Eddie enjoys salsa the most. Something about the second-sense of the clave is comforting. It’s a constant, unchanging. Yet, it still gives him freedom, allowing him multitudes of free-style. He can close his eyes, nod his head and fall into the music.
One night, a live salsa band is playing at the bar. During a moment a freedom, Eddie takes the opportunity to enjoy the music. Sipping on a drink at the bar, you watch the man fall into his dancing trance. His feet move in a familiar pattern. Inside your head you can hear the “one, two, three, five six seven,” as you watch him move. He’s confident, more open. Arms up and his body swaying as he follows the steps. An amused smile curls at your lips, and your heart rate picks up.
When he returns to serving drinks, you ask him about the dancing. He waves it off as just a little thing he’s learned over the years. However, you’re not letting him off easy. A trumpet blares, then a familiar tune begins. Jumping up, you offer your hand to Eddie. Seeing as no one is at the bar, he sighs, but ultimately lets you drag him onto the dance floor. It’s natural for the two of you. One hand holds yours as the other holds your waist. He begins to lead, making you step back. You didn’t realize how practiced he is, finding yourself being tossed and twirled around the dance floor. His fingers graze over your skin as he maneuvers you around with ease, making you shiver. Those sharp eyes lock with yours, making you realize that this is no longer just a dance, this is something significantly more intimate. Further into the song, Eddie has you pressed tightly against him. Finding himself teasing you with both his lips and hands. By the time you are done you are hot from the adrenaline and the flustered state he has put you in. Yeah, you’re going to need more than just the dance.
