To cap an eventful month in which she celebrated her 10th year as a DJ, Ms Jones officially drops her single Tell Me today. Bursting with tribal dance beats, the hot single is a happy, feel-good love song. She features Red Rose a vocalist from Rustenburg and the album is incidentally produced by Skyvince, also from Rustenburg. Ms Jones says it was deliberate that she went for underground and unsigned artists to prove that there is more talent in South Africa outside the big cities. And now she is confident that Tell Me will take revellers to a happy place. āI see this song moving the entire country. I see it reaching every corner of the country, I speak life to it. Every age and every race will love it because love is a universal language,ā she says. Ms Jones is one of a handful successful female DJs taking on the big boys clubs that have dominated the space. Ten years on, she acknowledges thereās still a lot to be done for women in dance to move from just being seen as vocalists but bonafide beat masters. āIām blessed to do what I love. There are many other who have given up along the way over the years I have been in the industryāā she says. Accordingly she will be celebrating her first decade with a bash at 649 pub in Mohlakeng, Randfontein on the West Rand where she will feature DJs who have been influential in her life from day one. Ms Jones is not going anywhere. She believes there is still so much to do and learn in the game to stay ahead of the pack. Tell Me will stamp her authority among the greats of dance in South Africa.
