Unfortunately, some students may never find the ongoing support they need from their parents, but that doesn't mean a dance degree is out of the question.Find a mentor. Confide in a trusted dance professor or advisor about your situation. They can be a source of reassurance and guidance if you aren'...
For all the dance majors out there who deal with the “go get a real degree!” attitude from friends and family.
As a dance major, I end up spending around 20 hours a week in class. That should be 20 credits, which is insane, and no one would dare do that to themselves. Oh, and I also have homework eating up time. But since I’m only earning barely enough credits to be a full-time student, everyone else thinks I’m exaggerating when I talk about how stressed I am, how I’m in school or doing schoolwork from the moment I get up until I go to bed, etc. It doesn’t help that I’m studying dance, which people tend to assume is an easy major.
And here I thought being a dance major would prepare me for a professional dance career. I’m a senior, and I’ve worked really hard these past few years, but I still look like a waltzing llama when I dance.
If you college graduates out there think your degree is useless, just be glad you weren’t a dance major.

What bothers me about being a dance major is that absences and sitting out affect your grade. So basically, if you’re injured, tough luck. You either dance, or you’re punished. It’s unfair. I have a few injuries that I’ve danced with for months because of this policy.
My knees look so bad, tomorrow, it's going to be worse 😞
