Summer stories feat. Danielle and Bethany
This summer, whilst in Colombia, we visited Iglesia Misionera Fuente de Vida Eterna, the church where Neebs worked in her gap year. Originally just one church in a community in the ‘invasion’ of Bogotá, the church has grown with the city with now 2 church plants further up the mountain. The newest church plant is in a place called Guavel and has already outgrown the small building they have there. Not only is it a church but also a ‘comedor’ which serves the children of the community whilst they’re not at school.
The Saturday group already has over 100 children, which in a very small building is difficult to run, especially when it’s raining. Construction however has already started on a bigger building which is very exciting!
More and more families are getting to know Christ and the community is being served more and more by the church. However, unfortunately Compassion has pulled out of sponsoring children in urban areas in Colombia so only about half of the children that attend the ‘comedor’ are sponsored through other organisations. But despite this, it’s incredible to see such a Christ-like attitude of selflessness from the pastors who portrait God’s love in a community that isn’t always easy to live in and see how God’s provision is unchanging on the other side of the world.
