1. Hot cocoa, apple cider, or something else?

I'm going to be contrary with this one and say - a glass of champagne.  You were talking about festive drinks, right? ;)

2. Favorite fandom-related possession?

The Sybil x Tom Christmas tree ornament made for me by the lovely yankeecountess.

3. Favorite board or card game?

Don't tend to play them much any more, but I loved Monopoly as a kid.

4. Do you have a calendar for next year already?  What theme is it?  (If you don’t have one, what theme do you want/plan to get?)

I don't use hard copy calendars any more - sad but true.   But, if I did have one, I'd probably get one from National Geographic or Taronga Zoo of cute baby animals, to "aww" over.

5. Fandom or pairing you wish there was more fic for?

Sybil x Tom - always need more fic for them.

6. Thoughts on snow: (Winter Wonderland, or driving nightmare?)

Being an Aussie I don't have a lot of experience of this!  I do remember it snowing in London and falling over on black ice on the footpath, so I would probably say - winter wonderland when I am inside looking at it, and driving/walking nightmare when I am actually in it.

7. People may soon be allowed to use cell phones on planes.  On a scale of 1 to murdering the obnoxious jerk in the seat next to you with no legally defensible provocation, how bad of an idea do you think this is?

Appalling idea, absolutely appalling!  I hope this is NEVER allowed.  Short answer - 100,000,000.

8. If you exchange gifts for the holidays, what’s one item you put on your “friends” wishlist you’d never in a million years put on the “family” version?

Hmmm - that takes some thought!  If I include fandom friends in my friends list, which I do of course, then I'd say some Sybil x Tom smut, which I'd never ask my family to write for me - they don't know I write it either. :)

9. What’s a book on your “to read” list?

How long have you got!  I was given the latest Kate Atkinson novel for Christmas, Life after Life, and she is one of my favourite authors, so I can't wait to read that.

10. Do you have an e-reader?  If so, what kind, and how do you decide which books to buy digitally and which to buy in hard copy?

No, I don't, and I never will either.  Maybe it's a gen X thing but I will only buy a book in hard copy.  (I have to make an exception for fanfic, but that's it.)

11. If you could make a class of college intro to lit students read one short story or poem, what would it be? (<— why yes, I DO teach intro to lit… why do you ask?)

This is a really hard one!  I will have to cheat - I'd put one beautiful poem, such as She Walks in Beauty, by Lord Byron, one moving poem, such as Anthem for Doomed Youth, by Wilfred Owen, and then I'd assign them at least one short story by Guy de Maupassant (see my answer earlier today re books that have stayed with me).  Even though he wrote in French, so may not qualify for your class, he is one of the supreme exponents of that form in my opinion.  Try on The Horla for size (one of his longer short stories, almost a novella) - gives me the shivers just thinking about it!
