Discipline. Just reading that word out loud makes some people cringe. We all know we need more of it, but it just sounds so hard. Discipline is not a bad word, at least it shouldn't be. So how do you become more disciplined? Simple answer. Just do it. Find something small to be disciplined on and build upon that. Want to become healthier, start your day with drinking 2 glasses of water. Want to workout more, make it easy for you to workout. Put your workout clothes out along with your shoes next to your bed, find an accountability partner and go to the gym at the same time every day. If you can't go to the gym every day, do something at home. But do it every day regardless of whether it is some push up or jumping jacks or a morning walk. Get in the habit of it every day.
The great Jim Rohn said, "Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day. Failure is not a single cataclysmic event. You don’t fail overnight. Instead, failure is a few errors in judgment repeated every day. Your short-term tasks multiplied by time equals your long-term accomplishments.”
As I was teaching my son how to use his Scooby-Doo fishing pole last summer, I thought to myself the simple disciplines of fishing. I didn't grow up fishing or hunting, but appreciate the patience and discipline it takes to catch your prize. Yes, I thought about something motivational out of it all. So the big question. What disciplines are you going to start "From Here on Out?" Don't wait for the New Year to start, we all know New Year's resolutions don't work. Start something now. Find a strong reason why you want to do it. Something internal deep down, and just do it. Do it every day
If you’re willing to take responsibility for being successful or being a failure at where you are, it becomes very powerful because if it’s true that wherever you are today is the sum of the things that you’ve done up until now, then it’s also true that wherever you want to go, whatever success you want to achieve is also going to be determined by what you do every day from here on out.
If you practice great things, if you practice successful principles every day, if you practice discipline every day, then over the course of time, you become successful.
