“Who crawls through someone’s window at 4am to go for ice cream?!” Mala shrieked, scrambling to pull her blankets around her to hide herself as Dagur finished climbing into her bedroom.
“Uh, actually, it’s 4:23am,” Dagur corrected, as if his girlfriend hadn’t screamed at him, as if he hadn’t just climbed in through her fucking window. He eyed her up and down. “I’ve… seen you naked. Why are you covering yourself?”
“I was startled,” Mala responded, realizing that Dagur was correct in that behavior being silly. She tended to sleep naked, and she and Dagur weren’t unfamiliar with each other’s bodies. “I’m still startled. You didn’t answer my question!”
Dagur shrugged, then turned and closed the window. “I wanted ice cream and figured it would be a nice date.”
“Uh huh?” He turned back to her.
“No place is going to be open right now.”
Dagur plopped himself down on her bed. “I… did not think of that.”
Mala rolled her eyes and gave him a light, affectionate punch on the shoulder. “Of course you didn’t.” She threw her blankets off of her, reaching for her dresser to find something to wear. “Come on. I’ve got ice cream in the freezer.”
Dagur gave a big, toothy grin. “You better have Moose Tracks.”
“You know I do.” Finding some shorts and a shirt to pull on, Mala got up and dressed, not minding Dagur watching her as she did so. “Come on, you big lug. Ice cream date it is.”
