002 - PomBom

The Dæmomancer:  Mass produced trash employed by lame cheaters who lack the spiritual acumen to summon a KrattDæme. Stupid blazing mech-bros, the lot of them. Plus it's creepy how they adapt to their coach's personality.

Prof. Lyrica: You have to appreciate the customization and effort people put into them. Yes, it's an off-the-shelf kit, but you rarely see any two that are quite the same. Too bad about the bugs, but that's the price of artistic exploration.

Warden Parks: The lightning-orbs are dangerous but don't let them distract you. Her real arms are the cable-claws coming out of her head, and they reach a good ten feet, and she can electrify them, too.

Sy Fife: I see how it is. Zeitgeist Steel Concern makes this metal-and-plastic snap-kit and it's 'a technical achievement in Dæmengineering' but when I channel a spirit into a doll-Dæme it's 'creepy' and 'wants to eat my soul'.

Dr. Entendre: PomBom Excelcia model 200, 1.75m, 120 kg. My own Dæme, Mekilyn, started out as an off-the-shelf Pombom Model 50. First Dæme ever instantiated into a chassis I built. She could bring down a mantpira with a plasma sphere from 50 meters.

016 - Gel-Lee

She enjoys training, fighting, justice, and bad movie nights.

Features: Agile, Brawler, Food*

Quirk: Tsundering-Do

*Special: Biting or cutting attacks cause no pain or damage, with removed sections instantly regenerating, though this is taxing. Gel-Lee’s candy heals humans and Dæmes.  

The Dæmomancer:  They respect only those who respect their need for training and constant improvement. Ironically, their coaches are often shiftless manger-types and lazy con-artists. Perhaps a form of rebellion against their confectioneers.  

Prof. Lyrica: Centuries of confectionary expertise and martial arts skill blended together with just the right amount of artificial flavoring and dye to make the ultimate champion of the people, able to fight for them in hard times, and feed them in lean ones. 

Warden Parks: Look, we all instantiate strange stuff, but candy is just wrong. I understand they’re adapted to it perfectly, it’s like a haircut, they actually benefit, but it’s still creepy… and every color tastes the same. 

Sy Fife: Able to focus mystical energy through discipline, Gel-Lee’s chi grants her supernatural bounciness and the agility to control it. She can even heat her sugar to boiling and project chi-blasts of sizzling sucrose and gelatin. 

Dr. Entendre: Ursucrosus Harribois, h 1.6 m, 73 kg. A common food Dæme, Gel-Lee is highly adaptable, developing in multiple potential directions depending on the training it receives from its coach, or by its own wandering. Their passion for combat exceeds that of most Dæmes.

011 - Hellhop

She enjoys spicy food, punctuality, and generous tippers. 

Features: Dæmon, Familiar, Fire

Quirk: Gal Friday

The Dæmomancer:  A dæmon of low rank and a very capable familiar. She controls elemental fire and is very organized. If you aren’t just as organized, she will attempt to overthrow you. Fortunately, a salt circle will bind her movements.

Prof. Lyrica: As charming as she is sure footed. I trust her implicitly, that’s why she’s got my power of attorney. 

Warden Parks: Dæmons are formidable Dæmes, but if you know their ‘true næme’ it binds them to your service and renders you immune to their powers. They like to hide their masters in curtains of flame, so that’s where your hostage is.

Sy Fife: She can carry any amount of weight provided it can be reasonably classified as luggage, and is very sure-footed, certainly, but the water doesn’t need to be holy to rain on her parade.  

Dr. Entendre: Dæmononica Servitor, 1.8 m, 80 kg.  A Dæmon-Dæme with ungulate features. A side-effect of their mental control of fire shifts the flames to a vibrant magenta-pink color. They’re rational and open to negotiation in most situations.

006 - Proebe (Probe-E)

She enjoys watching, planning, and waiting.

Features: Alien, Psychic, Illusionist

Quirk: Enigmatic

The Dæmomancer:  People think they’re from space but I know the fair folk when I see them. Moving things with your mind? Planting thoughts and feelings in people’s heads? That’s magic, I tell you.

Prof. Lyrica: They follow family lines, abducting and returning family members until they’ve chosen the one they want as their coach. Those that aren’t chosen have their memories wiped. It’s creepy.

Warden Parks: All brains, no brawn. She’s not much of a threat when in claw’s reach, but getting close will require stealth and a quiet mind.

Sy Fife: A visitor from an advanced civilization far beyond our own. You can call their partners coaches, but it’s the Proebe who are the guides, not just for their partners, but for all humanity.

Dr. Entendre: EBE Rigelis, 1.2 m, 36 kg. A humanoid type with large cranial capacity, demonstrating telekinesis, telepathy, telempathy, and limited precognitive abilities. While technologically advanced, individuals rarely carry any devices worth reverse-engineering.

Hey there.

You look like you've had a hard time, and the way you're looking around tells me you're not from around here. My name is Doctor Entendre, but you can call me Doc.

Where's your Dæme?

Oh. You're really not from around here. Lucky you ran into me, you'd be in trouble if you were caught alone.

The short version? Dæmes are intelligent creatures possessed of strange powers and abilities. We have only begun to understand their nature, but we do know that all Dæmes, regardless of their appearance and powers, grow more powerful from battle, and grow more powerful more quickly when paired with a human being.

Ever since they've arrived, man and Dæme have worked together. To survive here, you'll need a Dæme, and to coach a Dæme, you'll need to know the five rules.

1. Wild? Have fun. Feral? Just run. 2. Do not get between Dæmes in battle. 3. Treat your Dæmes with respect. 4. Dæme shall not kill man. 5. Man must never kill Dæme.

And while it's not a rule, remember:

001 - StoneAgnes

She enjoys going out on the town, hijinks, and home cooked food.

Features: Brawler, Primordial, Reptile    

Quirk: Volatile

The Dæmomancer:  A brute, but a loyal one, willful and stubborn as the deserts she calls home. Irksomely resistant to spellcraft... Or perhaps she's too rockheadded to ensorcel.

Prof. Lyrica: It's adorable how they carve stone copies of things they want but can't have or even understand. An obsolete lizard caught in the rat-race, trying to keep up with the Joneses in a car made of rocks.

Warden Parks: A noble and powerful Dæme. She is a master of stone, finding it as light and easily carved as wood. Her passions are primordial, as is her fury when enraged. Much like a bird, she loves shiny things, though the shine isn't always literal.

Sy Fife: She may be the ultimate predator, a primal force of nature that will smash, bite, or trample anything between herself and what she protects, be it her coach, her territory, or her social status.

Dr. Entendre: Waifusarus Gayoltyme, 1.6m, 100 kg. Semihumanoid, omnivorous, resembles a dinosaur with a hair-like feathered crest. A second brain in their lower back produces a psionic resonance with stone that allows for multiple unusual effects.

018 - Gamcorda

She enjoys watching, looking, observing, and the mall.

Features:  Psychic, Robot, Sentry

Quirk: Snoop

The Dæmomancer:  Video is just memories on magnetic tape. Information. When a Gamcorda decides to communicate that information, it is nearly always in the form of an attack, flooding an enemy’s mind with re-edited memories and experiences to confuse and overwhelm them.

Prof. Lyrica: Silent Dæmes are usually eerie, but there’s a peaceful serenity to the ever observant Gamcorda with her blinking red secondary eye, every one of them the director of their own filmed autobiography.

Warden Parks: They’re like robot ostriches with a spy camera mounted on their backs, and they kick just as hard as that implies. They’re also retro. That means they are easily mucked up by electricity or water. 

Sy Fife: Vitron Industries took those things off the market for a reason. They’re haunted somehow. There’s something in them that’s watching and waiting. I don’t know what it’s waiting for, but I doubt it’s good.

Dr. Entendre: Gamcorder 018-87. 1 m, 50 kg. An automated videographer device that instantiated line-wide, forcing shutdown of the product line. Gamcorda is remarkably stealthy for its size, and prefers careful, observant coaches. They can somehow communicate telepathically, using repurposed audio/video clips, despite being machines, but rarely do so.

014 - Snekoyl

She enjoys narrow spaces, trying new things, and free-form Jazz.

Features: Amorphous, Reptile, Toxic

Quirk: Sneak

The Dæmomancer:  An elemental formed of oil and grease, one I shouldn’t have to tell you to keep away from fire. She’s a hard one to nail down, in more ways than one, but a great source of oil if you can manage it.

Prof. Lyrica: Sneaky, slithy, and slimy. If curiosity killed the cat it's because a Snekoyl was there first and ate him. Anything they gobble gets turned into more petroleum. They’re easily mesmerized by music.

Warden Parks: Snekoyl are natural predators of magical and cryptid creatures, and the oil they produce is a small price to keep them under control. A good coach finds them loyal and intuitive, but with zero understanding of privacy.

Sy Fife: The oil remembers the creatures that it once was, and the ancient serpents were among the strongest willed. It’s a force of poison and decay, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t natural.

Dr. Entendre: Depolymerius Fauxserpentis, height variable, 600 kg. The impulse to fight oil with fire is incorrect. Snekoyl can burn for hours without losing enough mass to take damage. They find it difficult to extract themselves from fine powders or cloth.
