New couple

“Haeun-ah what are you doing?” Chaeyoung couldn’t stop herself from giggling as she watched Haeun attempt to do the middle splits. She was close, but adorably the four year old was just  a little off. Her arms were holding her from falling, but it was wobbly at best.

“Nico and Hina can do it already.” Haeun whined. “Mommy said she’s flexible. Why can’t I do it?” “Nico and Hina both have practiced a lot.” Chaeyoung lifted Haeun up before she could pick her up. 

“Nu-uh. Nico started gymnastics class after me. And Hina doesn’t even go anymore.” Haeun whined. 

“Well, Nico goes to a lot of classes, so she gets more practice. And I know Hina couldn’t do it at first. Your Aunt offered to do stretching class with you two, you said no.” Chaeyoung reminded Haeun, helping her to her feet. 

“Then why can mommy do it?” Haeun whined.

“Don’t tell mommy I told you this,” Chaeyoung started, bending down to whisper in Haeun’s ear. “Mommy has superpower, she can bend her body in all kinds of weird ways and she uses it to fight evil.” “Really?” Haeun looked at Chaeyoung excitedly.

“Yeah.” Chaeyoung smiled at Haeun. She didn’t want to explain to Hauen it was probably her fault she was struggling so much to get it. Kihyun had gotten Dahyun’s flexibility, but both Daehyung and Haeun had clearly missed out on that gene.”But that’s a secret okay? You can’t tell anyone.” “Okay.” Haeun giggled.

“Great. Now mommy wants the two of us to go to the store before she and your brothers get back. We need to get some snacks for the party tonight.” Chaeyoung picked Haeun up, carrying her off towards her room to get her dressed. Haeun’s room was a huge mess, getting her to clean it could be difficult and with trying to get everything else clean, they had sort of given up. There was still paper and crayons thrown everywhere from the last time Haeun and her had had art time together, and while Chaeyoung knew it needed to get clean it wasn’t her main concern right now. “Can we get chocolate?” Haeun asked.

“Maybe.” Chaeyoung smiled at the hopeful look one Haeun’s face. “For mommy.” Haeun argued.

“Just for mommy?” Chaeyoung asked, a knowing smile on her lips. “You already got mommy chocolate. For christmas.” Haeun had just turned four in September, and picking out presents wasn’t exactly her strong suit. Chaeyoung had been the one to take Haeun to the fancy chocolate shop Dahyun and Kihyun were obsessed with and she may have been the one who pointed to the ones they liked and she may have been the one to pay but they were definitely from Haeun. “More chocolate.” Haeun giggled. “Alright, maybe. What do you want to wear?” Chaeyoung knew she couldn’t pick something out for Hauen. Haeun would throw huge fits when she was little and her parents would try to dress her, so most of the time they gave up and let her pick her own outfits. 

“This!” Haeun picked out the outfit Sana had gotten for her a few days ago. They tried to tell their kids to not play favorites with their aunts, but Haeun clearly loved Sana more than any of her other Aunts. “Alright.” Chaeyoung made quick work of changing Haeun into the christmas suit Sana had gotten for her. Hauen was going through a phase where she absolutely refused to wear skirts or dresses, so Chaeyoung was thankful Sana had picked out something that wouldn’t involve a meltdown from Haeun. “All set.” Haeun giggled, running into her bathroom. “I like it.” Haeun giggled.

“Me too. I would love to do a fashion show with you kiddo but we have to get to the store or mommy will make me sleep on the couch.” Chaeyoung came up behind Haeun and picked her up. The two loved doing fashion shows together, and usually Kihyun would join too. Dahyun would play a photographer and take tons of photos of all of them, and sometimes they would even get Daehyung to join. “Okay.” Haeun giggled, wiggling out of Chaeyoung’s arms and running out of her room. Chaeyoung followed, purposefully going a bit slower than Haeun. When they got to the stairs, Chaeyoung watched her carefully to make sure she didn’t fall, and when they got down the stairs Chaeyoung smiled at her. 

“You beat me.” Haeun giggled when Chaeyoung patted her head. “Let’s hurry so we can get everything ready for mommy.” 

“Okay!”

“Mama!” Chaeyoung turned when she heard Haeun scream. Haeun couldn’t be trusted to walk when they were at the store, so she was always banished to the cart, for everyone’s sake. “Oreos!” Haeun pointed to the oreos, practically buzzing with excitement as she looked at them. “You want some?” Haeun nodded excitedly. “Okay. Just, only a couple at once so your stomach doesn’t hurt.” Haeun wasn’t listening after she said yes, and Chaeyoung knew it.

As they were checking out, Chaeyoung got an amazing idea.

“Hey Haeunie, want to play a prank on mommy?” Chaeyoung smiled as she walked into their kitchen. Dahyun was going to be gone for at least another half hour, so she knew she had time to set something small up. Most of the decorations for the party had already been set up, they had recruited the boys to help earlier in the day with the promise they could open one christmas present early after everyone else left. “Yeah yeah!” Haeun wigged around on the counter. Haeun liked sitting on high places, and it kept her in Chaeyoung’s eye space so she would usually let her daughter sit up on the high counter.

“Okay. How about this, we take the filling out of one of the oreos and put toothpaste in it.” “That’s gross.” Haeun’s face crinkled up. “You don’t have to eat one, we aren’t going to put it on all of them. Just one. We can prank mommy.” Chaeyoung giggled at Haeun.

“Oh okay.” Haeun giggled. “So you want to do it?” Chaeyoung asked.

“Yeah!”

“Chaeng! We’re home!” Dahyun called as she put her keys down. Ari wiggled around in her arms, excited to finally be home after going to the groomers and then accompanying them to various errands. Dahyun set him down and he ran after Kihyun, who was off in the direction of his room to change. “Dae buddy why don’t you go get ready for the party?” “One sec, I almost beat the level.” Dahyun giggled at him and went off towards the living room, wanting to make sure Chaeyoung remembered to get the groceries. 

“Babe?” Dahyun peaked her head into the living room, a little confused when she didn’t see Chaeyoung. She went over to the kitchen and found the adorable scene of Chaeyoung cooking and Haeun next to her. Chaeyoung didn’t cook too often, and it wasn’t like she was particularly good at it, but she wasn’t bad either. Dahyun liked Chaeyoung’s cooking. “Oh hey Dahyun.” Chaeyoung turned to Dahyun with a smile. “Welcome home.” “Hey. Haeunie, are you helping mama?” Dahyun giggled and went over to Haeun, who was very carefully watching Chaeyoung stir a pot. “Yeah.” Haeun giggled, cookie crumbs on her chin. 

“Oh, did mama give you a cookie?” Dahyun giggled, wiping them away. “For helping.” Haeun explained, Dahyun nodding her head and giggling more. 

“What am I going to do with you?” Dahyun nuzzled her nose with Haeun’s affectionately. “We got oreos!” Haeun smiled.

“I got the double stuff ones, for you.” Chaeyoung turned to Dahyun with a smile. “How were the errands?” “Ari still hates the groomer. And Daehyung and Kihyun are mad at each other because Dae was playing games the entire time we were out and he kept running into Kihyun.” Dahyun sighed. “And my mom called again. She’s mad because my brother is bringing his girlfriend to Christmas and she complained about it for so long. I just want things to go smoothly and to not be annoyed.” “With our kids? Not happening.” Chaeyoung giggled. “I mean, I think all of the kids fight with their siblings. I honestly think they might be the most quiet in their arguments. Jenogyeon Unnie and Nayeon Unnie have to deal with screaming. At least none of our kids yell.” “I suppose that’s true. I guess it’s just the time of year where all adults are stressed.” Dahyun sighed. “I’m sorry. Want an oreo?” Chaeyoung offered an oreo to Dahyun. “Sure, thanks.” Dahyun smiled, accepting the oreo. Haeun couldn’t stop giggling and really that should have made Dahyun more suspicious. Chaeyoung tried to gesture to Haeun to be quiet, but due to her age she couldn’t stop herself. Chaeyoung couldn’t help but get swept up in the giggling when Dahyun looked at her suspiciously. “Ugh! That’s so gross! What did you do to my precious oreos?” Dahyun spit it out in the sink next to Haeun the minute she took a bite. “It’s toothpaste.” Haeun giggled. “Was this your idea?” Haeun nodded when Dahyun turned to her. 

“Mama’s idea.”

“Son Haeun you little snitch.” Chaeyoung sighed dramatically. “I’ll get you back for this.” Dahyun promised, throwing the oreo away and swirling some water around in her mouth. 

“I look forward to it.” Chaeyoung giggled.
