prompt #84 - “You’ve literally saved the world three times. You can handle babysitting for 30 minutes”

“Felicity you can’t leave now.” Oliver stood by the balcony and watched Felicity grab her coat as she was jumping into her shoes. 

“Curtis called, there is a problem at Palmer Tech, I will be gone for 30 minutes. Tops, you’ll be fine.” Felicity was frantic but Oliver seemed to be oblivious due to his focus on the small baby who was laying in a car seat next to their couch. 

“Maybe you should take the baby with you to Palmer Tech?” Oliver knew it was a dumb comment the moment it left his lips but he couldn’t take it back now. A fact he shocking resized as he watched Felicity turn slowly back around to face him. 

‘Hmm’ She cleared her throat before speaking “Oliver Queen, you’ve literally saved the world three times. You can handle babysitting for 30 minutes”

Oliver knew that he could handle this but he still wasn’t sure how to. “I’m just not sure it’s a great idea. I don’t really have much baby experience.” He stammered out. 

“What about Johnny Jr. you’ve had baby experience with him.” 

“In the presence of his two excellent  parents. Both of whom I know well by the way, I don’t even know who’s baby this is Felicity. Really, where did this baby come from?” 

Felicity sighed, she had already told Oliver who’s baby this was. Which meant he wasn’t listening. “I told you My friend Molly from work had to go out of town and her babysitter couldn’t be here until 5 so I told her I could watch her baby for a few hours. You can watch her baby for 30 minutes. I’m leaving, right now.” and she was gone. 

Oliver looked down at the small child in front of him. He could do this, he could handle this baby. Felicity was right, he had saved the world (or at least the city) at least 3 times. 

The first ten minutes went perfectly, Oliver spoke to the baby while she cooed back. 

When he finally got the courage to lean over and pick up the baby he thought that  how small she really was and thought that he had never held a baby so small. 

“Hmm, I could almost get used to this. So cute and peaceful. like there isn’t a problem in the world.” Oliver whispered to the baby as his mind wandered to the thought of having a baby of his own someday with Felicity.

Oliver is on his way to his next 'first date' with Felicity. He's told William that he wants Felicity to be a bigger part of their lives. As it turns out, William might have a different idea of what that might mean than Oliver.
