Dad AU
Part 1
-------------
She’s in a panic. Her mind is muddled with fear in every direction she turns, she always ends up back where she started.
“Father! Father help me!”
She screams with a trembling voice. Her call met only void as she runs further from the point she began again. Hoping she’d making it somewhere else.
“Father? Dad? Are you there? Please! I need you!”
Her eyes swelling with tears, staining her cheeks and her makeup running.
At last she sees the distant figure of her father. She eyes widen and she runs faster to catch him. He walks ever so calmly away from her. She holds her arm out to grab him. Her voice growing loud in an attempt to get his attention.
“Dad! Dad? Daddy Please wait! Dad stop! Come back! Can you hear me? Dad! DAD!”
Her clumsy, tired body collapses. Her body is drained of energy. She looks up to see her father’s stoic expression. His eyes dully look into hers.
“You are not my daughter. She’s right here.”
She sees a distorted version of herself. It grins at her with a vicious sneer in its eyes. Her father turns and walks towards the fake. She tried to get up, only to find that she’s sinking into the ground. She calls out to her father.
“Dad! No wait! That’s not me! That’s not me! Dad! Dad, please listen to me!”
She can only cry as she watches it stare her down and raise a gun to her father’s chest. It shot him down.

She wakes up into a sitting position and looks around her. She’s covered in sweat. To calm herself down, she goes to the joint bathroom to splash water in her face. Then she takes a shower.
--------------
She walks down the stairs and into the kitchen. She sees her father. He made nods to her and speaks.
“I’ll be out for two weeks, stay safe and don’t forget to lock up before bed.”
“Whatever.”, she speaks coldly.
He turns to her and frowns.
“You look nice, is that a new haircut?”
He tries to smile, but he isn’t much of a smiler. He quickly gave up. She looks at him unimpressed.
“It’s a month old, took you long enough.”
He sighs and hugs her goodbye.
“Love you, my little apple blossom.”
“Hm...”
-----------
He wasn’t cut out to be a father, regardless he’s done the best he could. After all, a man racked with insecurities can only do so much. Sometimes he feels like he’s ruined the kind and cute baby he met all those years ago. He thinks maybe he really is a screw up?
He pulls up to his workplace.
“Shadow! I got your coffee.”
Shadow looks up at the G. U. N. main entrance, he sees Rouge waving him over.
-------------
They both sit in the briefing room, wait for assignment details. Rouge starts to fix her makeup.
“You know Shadow, I never asked why you never do jobs that take more than a month at most.”
“And I will never tell you why, so don’t ask.”
She rolls her eyes and continues to fix her makeup.
“Mysterious as always....”
