Alona was born as the youngest child in a family with three other siblings, all of them boys. Her whole family looked exactly like her, ginger and pale, but there was something different about Alona Erue. Where all the members of the Erue family were very quick-tempered and stubborn, Alona was quiet, shy and often like a doormat to others. She was a sweet girl, but she definitely didnāt fit in. Which made her father, winner of one of the first Hunger Games, start to believe that she was a bastard child.
Growing up, Alona often stuck with her brothers and was scared of being alone, scared that sheād end up in a situation with only herself and her father around. Mum was scared of him and had told Alona what the old mad man could do if he ever were to go completely insane, which made Alona scared of him as well. But her brothers, they were strong, with big hearts and even bigger mouths. And they were there to protect her, insisting that the youngest ginger was also part of the family.
Alona never really left the house the family lived in, a big house in the Victor Village. Loud noises and tall people scared her, mainly because there were only loud noises in the Erue house whenever there was a fight going on. Alona herself was incredibly tiny, and felt like she could get crushed by anything or anyone taller than 5 feet. So, in her eyes, the only way to survive when she went outside, was by just being quicker than the giants, so that they wouldnāt get the opportunity to step on her.
And that worked quite well. Even if Alona still didnāt like being surrounded by people, she now could be found outside a bit more often. And she loved being outside. She often imagined her own adventures and played them out, but never with a friend or with her brothers. She had her adventures on her own. Stories in which she was the knight in shining armor and would save a princess from an evil dragon. She spent days and days outside, now enjoying it as long as she didnāt run into other people.
However, that happy period in her life soon came to an end when her father went crazy. Something had snapped in him, Alona wasnāt sure what or why, but she did know that sheād be needing her speed. For her, it was either silently hiding, or running as fast as she could. Because, if her father was angry, nobody in the world could stop him from hurting her. And he was angry very often.
He still believed that she wasnāt his child. He hated her, and she knew it. Heād wanted to get rid of her for so long, but had never found a way to do it without upsetting the rest of the family into leaving. And by the time the announcement of the Quarter Quell and Alonaās first year to get picked for the Games came, Alona knew what her father was going to do. He threatened a lot of people, he told people that Alona had been stealing things around the District, anything to make them vote her into the Arena. The rest of the family didnāt know that father was making people vote for the youngest child, but Alona saw it happen right before her eyes.
And she got picked for the Hunger Games, the Quarter Quell. The Twenty-Fifth Games are going to be the death of her, and Alona knows it, but she tries to simply ignore everything thatās going on. And then mainly the fact that her father had put her in this situation.
//: Psychological Profile
Compassionate: Because of Alona growing up with a bigger house and more food than most people in the District, she often felt like she was doing something wrong by not sharing with and not caring about others. She never really spoke to a lot of people, but often found ways to sneak food to kids she knew from school and would often help the elderly. It was partly to make up for her being scared of them and not wanting to speak to them, and partly because she actually wanted to make some friends and genuinely cared for others.
Clever: Alona never really cared for talking to others. But she enjoyed listening to them and hearing about the world. She wanted to learn more and see more, so that maybe, if she ever got the strength to do it, she could share her stories with others. And while everyone else was screaming at each other and being too busy to appreciate the world, Alona noticed the small things in life and the things that often turned out to have some sort of connection. Sheās good at deducing things and hiding secrets from her is rather difficult.
Loyal: If thereās one thing Alona has known from a young age, itās that family comes first. Even if she didnāt get along well with her father, her brothers and her mother were a whole different story and she knew that trust and loyalty were very important in relationships. Because sheās never really had friends, Alona thinks friendship should be the exact same thing. She wouldnāt ever just let somebody down, just because she thinks that isnāt right, and if things arenāt right, thereās something that can be done about it.
Anxious: Alona is an incredibly anxious person. This is mainly because the associations sheās got with people in general, thanks to her father. And people are everywhere. Sheās constantly worried somebodyās out there to get her, or that something badās going to happen and she has a really hard time getting over those thoughts. She likes danger, but only in her fantasies and when sheās sure it isnāt real. In real life, however, she sees danger in everything and it makes her incredibly nervous and anxious.
Moody: Growing up in a house with constant screams, either of joy or of fear or anger, Alona never had any silence for herself. She could never really express herself and thought it was normal that the youngest had nothing to say and became somewhat of a living copy of the emotions in the house itself. When someone was angry, Alona would be angry, but silently. If someone was sad, Alona would cry with them. It became such a habit for her, that she started to get moody even when there was nobody else around. Sheād cry when there wasnāt anyone to cry with, and sheād get mad at the smallest things.Ā
