Sad to hear that Chicago Zine Fest won’t happen IRL this year, but very happy to see they’re holding an online zine fest instead, on May 15th & 16th, 2020! More here. Poster by Caroline Cash.

QUARANZINE #62: Grace Giles-Carter. Finished just in time for Chicago Zine Fest! Grace emailed me in late April to share a couple comics she had been making. She learned about QUARANZINE after her dad Jeff Carter bought two dozen copies and shared them with her. I liked her comics a lot and encouraged Grace to make some more so that there would be enough of them to fill both sides of the page. Yesterday she sent me a whole batch of new comics and I love the succinct way Grace has observed the world during the pandemic–in particular the frustrations and annoyances of digital communication. Grace lives in Chicago but I don't think we've met. We finalized the layout last night and this morning over email, she picked a paper and ink color combination she liked, and here we are! #CZF2020 is happening virtually today (check out @chicagozinefest for more info) and I wanted to make a #throwback post of last CZF! Pics 1 is the venue at the beginning of #CZF2019, and pic 2 is my table set up last year. 📕📘📙 I’ve been lucky to get to participate in CZF every year since I started exhibiting at zine fests in 2014. Due to the lottery this year, I wasn’t scheduled to table, but since they switched over to a digital event for 2020, I’m kind of glad I’ll still get to participate in a small way. 📕📘📙 CZF has always held a special place in my heart since it was the first zine fest I ever attended, and also the first zine fest I ever tabled at!
