I was in sixth grade, and going through a hard time with my depression. We were assigned a project to act out scenes from a selection of books, and my group chose a Sherlock Holmes story. “The Speckled Band”, I believe. My parents, who are huge fans of BBC (though we’re in the US), offered for me to sit down and watch an episode of this new show Sherlock with them to better get inside the heads of the characters. I fucking loved it. Sorry, this is part 1/2. There aren't enough characters!
(Part 2/2) The project wasn’t even important anymore, I got my hands on a collection of the ACD stories and read them all within the school year. I had a new passion, a new escape from a place I found difficult to be in everyday. Sherlock helped me cope with what was going on in my life, until it overflowed and I had new friends, the detective and his doctor, at the press of a button. Thank you Sherlock creators, writers, actors, and everybody involved for saving me from myself.
