Guys, I drive an old Corolla and I’m thinking of customizing her once she’s mine. What do you guys think of turning her into a CuteGuy car??? I just found out how easy it is to customize and now I wanna go all out. 😭

Excuse the excessive amount of cat fur.
I’ve personalized this hoodie after Loki integrated into myself (I don’t think there’s any better way to word that…) in hopes that I wouldn’t feel guilty wearing it. It’s been a comfort object, and it would be a waste to get rid of it.
Besides cutting off the sleeves and re-sewing the sides, I just added small embellishments. The tail is that of a silver fox, it’s a decade old at this point but I was assured it was ethically sourced when I got it at the renaissance fair. It’s close enough look-wise to my canine theriotype’s.
Anyhow, toodles.

Weird confession: After years as a doll/clothes customizer, I have the urge to modify everything in my possession eeeeeeeever so slightly if it seems off to me. I know some people already think it’s weird if I dye or alter (lolita) brand clothing, even though that’s kind of a big plot point in Kamikaze Girls... but mostly, you know, they’re clothes. However, I sometimes have even actual artworks where a single brushstroke is off... or a splotch of color is missed... and I have to fight down the urge to whip out my detail brushes and correct it like I would an errant eye screening. Is this blasphemous, or do other people feel this way after years of dying, cutting up, and repainting everything they own?
i really want open-source culture.
social rules and norms and technology are tools! if they don’t suit your needs, bend them and re-shape them and transform them until they do! create new rules! discard old ones! branch and fork and endlessly customize--
but then don’t patent your modified and repurposed tools. share them with others, such that anyone else who may find them useful can use them, or even transform and repurpose them further.
and never condemn people who prefer a different customization to yours. don’t resent people for taking an idea you created and transforming it further to something that suits them better. likewise, don’t assume an attitude of smug superiority to people who choose to reject your customizations, who prefer to stick to the original.
let there be monogamy and polyamory and traditional marriage and relationship anarchy. let these all exist at once, each for the people who prefer them. they don’t need to destroy each other. they don’t need to demean each other.
the culture wars need not be wars.
