Inspiration
Don and Derek Rickman
These two brothers set the racing world on fire when they introduced their Rickman Metisse frames specially built to withstand the rigors of motocross. Competing bikes of the time were largely standard road machines that were modified to work off road and as such often had reliability issues on the track. By designing an off-road racing specific chassis that was able to accept a wide range of motors, these Don and Derek created some of the finest racing bikes available at the time.Â
Having the foresight and technical knowledge to design and build a world-beating motorcycle is one thing but to parlay that into a long-running successful business takes another skill set entirely. Not too bad for two brother building bikes in their shed.
