Gojo Satoru (Jujutsu Kaisen)- Oneshot
The words are spoken with very little emotion.
The monster holding the little girl just tilts its head with a wider grin.
You skate forward, and it moves to jump back. The second it turns, your hand goes into its gut. The shock is clear on its face, as well as the trembling girl. It's only a matter of seconds before it vanishes in thin air. The girl drops from its hold, and you catch her, whipping the blood off your hand.
She's sobbing, and you hold her tight as you jump from the window of the building. You aren't sure where she'd gotten taken from, so you move to the police station. After a few calls, her parents were racing into the precinct looking frantic and deprived of sleep. You smile at the reunion. It's obvious they'd been searching tirelessly since she left their sight.
You do the same, waving at the girl as they exit. Rolling your arm, you walk out. It'll be quite a trip back to your house. You'd made the journey on impulse. The next train to your place wouldn't be for about another hour. Sighing, you walk up the hill.
"You're stronger than I gave you credit for." The voice makes you jump, and you backtrack. A man lands before you, hands in his pockets.
"How would you like to put those abilities to better use?" You swallow. The male standing in front of you exudes power. You can practically see it.
"From your cursed energy, I don't think I have much of a choice." In battle, it's clear he'd win easily. That doesn't mean you wouldn't put up a fight.
The least he can do is tell you that.
He holds out a hand for you with a cocky smile.
"Gojo Satoru, nice to meet you."
Yeah, this one would be trouble.
"You really need to stop leaving your door unlocked (Y/N)-san."
You shriek, and the second you see that head of white hair, you blush.
"Hey, no need for the Sensei, how many times do I have to tell you."
You were still bowing and Gojo sweat drops.
"I guess that's expecting too much."
He leans against your wall.
"I heard what happened with the special grade." His head is turned in the direction of your bandaged arm. You hide it behind your back.
"I'm okay. I let my guard down. It won't happen again. You would have never made that mistake. I apologize for disappointing you Sensei."
Gojo doesn't say anything.
"She's been this way since that day.."
Although your meeting was abrupt, when he'd explained his interest in your abilities and his cause, you joined without a second thought. He's taken you under his wing. That was just a few years ago. Now here you stood, an upstanding jujutsu sorcerer. You never once questioned his methods of training. Not after the mistake you'd made in a prior case. You did everything to the best of your ability. Suffered every trial without complaint. You were a model student. A part of him had taken you up because he saw something familiar in your eyes. Something that he used to see in himself.
It was weird, the both of you were nothing alike. Yet here he was, looking in on you.
"You'd never disappoint me (Y/N)." He sounds serious now, and you lift your head.
"I'm glad you're okay." Your eyes light up.
He can see your eyes watering and he pats your head.
"Alright, alright calm down."
"I can't, Sensei is just so amazing!" You continue to bawl. Gojo looks away.
"What do you mean? You even took a weakling like me under your wing. So noble!"
Gojo uses his thumb to slide under his blindfold. When he pulls it down, all you can do is stare. The brightness emitted from those orbs always catch you off guard.
"You should be careful of the praise you give me, especially when you're so adorably defenseless." His tone seems a bit different, and the hand on your head slides to your cheek. You aren't sure what to say.
You aren't sure what's really happening right now.
Something in his eyes changes, and he retreats. He takes a step back, pulling up his blindfold.
"Well, I should get going. See ya!" He sounds like his old peppy self. All you do is stare when he walks out the door.
"What...was that just now?"
A memory filters through.
One you thought you'd forgotten.
Picking yourself off the ground, you hold your stomach.
"It's been three hours, how does he still have so much energy?" You grunt at the pain racking through your body.
"How long will it be until my body gives out."
You were at the edge of both stamina and cursed energy. If he were to land a blow right now, you'd be done.
"I guess that's it." His words feel mocking.
"Don't look down on me!!"
It was infuriating. He knew his power, and he never failed to flaunt it in front of your face. You flinch when he's suddenly right in front of you. The best you can do is protect your face. A head shot would guarantee his victory.
Instead of taking the opening, his palm lands on your cheek.
"That loss was not your fault."
Your eyes shake, and Gojo watches the tears that slowly make their way down your cheeks. You clenched your fists as the droplets hit the ground.
"I should have known..it didn't make sense why she was out there all alone. H-He killed her and then took the shape of her body to trick her parents." You whimpered, lips quivering.
"I should have paid closer attention. We were both reckless. You did what you thought was right."
It doesn't feel that way. You can't get the image of the happy family out of your head. Both parents had been killed by the hands of a talented cursed user who manipulated the entire thing.
You feel your knees go weak, and Gojo supports you as you lean on him, crying.
He's always been good at helping you through pain. It's possible that he's been through so much that he knows just what to say. That day, it was the point you realized just how incredible Gojo was. Since then you'd done nothing but put your absolute faith in him. Both as a mentor and a friend.
The next morning you're on your way back to your class. Unlike Gojo you actually tried to do the job you were being paid for. Training the students of Jujutsu Tech feels like you're calling. Something you wouldn't have been introduced to if not for Gojo. You're grateful to him for much more than just training experience. The day seems to go by without error. You're almost sad when the day is over. Packing up your things, you begin making your way out of the room. You're not surprised when you turn and see Gojo at the entrance of your class. He waves.
"How are your students Gojo-sensei?"
"When are you going to drop the sensei (Y/N)-san?" He sounds like a child and you giggle.
"It feels a bit disrespectful to call you anything else. What would you prefer?" You'll probably still address him the way you always have regardless of his request.
You're still smiling, because you haven't internalized what he just said. It takes a while. The realization is slow, and your eyes widen. You drop the bag in your hand in shock. It doesn't even hit the floor. Gojo is at your side in a blink, and he grabs the strap. You just gape.
He placed the bag down on the desk, and you backed up waving your hands.
"A-Are you feeling okay! Did Nanami give you some spoiled tea or something!! S-Sen-" You barely process much, because now your back is pressed onto your table. You're lying down, and Gojo is standing above, slipping between your parted legs as he places his hands on the sides of your head. You can't get a word out.
"Stop calling me Sensei."
He doesn't appear angry, but that sounds like an order.
"You're not a student. Stop belittling your abilities. I didn't train you for your praise (Y/N). Nor am I protective of you because I'm the one who brought you into this situation. I treasure you, more than my own life."
Your orbs shake with every honest confession.
"Stop undermining my feelings for you by putting up a false barrier of a teacher-student relationship."
It's hard to deny, but he's right. You've held feelings for him for so long, but a part of you has made sure to keep those thoughts at the very back of your mind. In your line of work, death was usually a guarantee. It was foolish to pursue any kind of relationship when you know any day you could die, or he could.
"W-What am I supposed to do!" You're yelling at him. You don't ever want to have to deal with the pain of losing anyone again.
"Trust that you're strong enough, that we both are." You sniffle, rubbing your cheeks.
"Y-You're the strongest Gojo." You're still somewhat sobbing, but Gojo smiles.
"That's the first time she's used my name."
There's that arrogance. You giggle softly.
"Then I guess we don't have to worry about anything."
"You don't. Because if anyone dares to lay a hand on you, I'll kill them myself."
He won't let harm come to you.
