But George’s grief over the loss of his brother got the better of him, he needed to see his brother even if it wasn’t really him.

He began to talk to his reflection, finding comfort in it, even though he was convinced at first he was going mad.

He would talk to himself for hours.

He would tell Fred about the family, he would tell him about everything.

But after a while, the grief would catch up to him.

George: I never wanted to know who I was without you, Freddy.

George: I always imagined we’d go out together... but you just had to be first, didn't you?

One day, while in his room, George spotted the tattered hat that Fred always used to wear. He decided to put it on and moved in front of the mirror in his bedroom.

He looked up, the air leaving him in a rush.

George: Freddy....

But it wasn’t Fred. Fred was gone. Fred had gone to a place where George could not follow.

And it broke him.

George: I’m sorry, Fred! God, I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry I lost you, I’M SORRY!

It was all too much. In a blind rage, George struck out at the mirror.

When he came to the mirror was shattered and his knuckles were bloody from the abuse.

*Molly bursts into the room, looking at the shards of glass on the floor and then up at George. She felt her heart squeeze and tears prick her eyes before she opened her arms for George to walk into.*
