carrie hadn't gotten used to standing still. it had been months of slipping into empty houses, and keeping out of the cold. she had grown used to the warmth a shadow could provide. but now that she could be in the daylight, it was as iff everything was just a little too bright, too close. she had spent so many months building her guard up that now it was difficult to trust that anyone was safe enough.
she'd been at the store for month now, and it was begining to feel like an exhale. she glanced at the clock before waving over to kit. " i know there's a shipment tonight - you want me to stay late to help stock ? " voice is quiet in comparison to most, but loud enough to be heard. carrie tucked a stray strand of hair back behind her ear. she had enjoyed being good at something, and the silence to think. her mind could settle with the rhythm of it. " i wouldn't mind the hours. "
