I love Cumberbatch's Sherlock but I'm not a hardcore fan. However I know nothing of him as a person since I have read only 1 or 2 interviews ever, so I can't prove you wrong or believe you blindly. At the moment I just see a hate blog with disappointed fans. That's why I would find it easier to believe you if you provided the sources to articles, videos etc where you have seen proof for his douchebaginess. Thank you. Not judging you YET :D
It’s good to play devil’s advocate at times, I believe. I can say now that I’m back into this, I truly do plan to source anything that can be sourced, I do have to add that a lot of what is posted here is opinion-driven. Okay but is it his fault that he's ubiquitous? Is it his fault that he was like Tumblr's #1 most favourite person this year?? Is it his fault that he keeps getting cast in movies? Can you blame him for getting work?
Hollywood is racist. Hollywood loves whitewashing. The Hunger Games, Star Trek, Exodus and lots of other adaptations prove how blatant this is. But it's not the actors' fault! Should we expect Cumberbatch to refuse a million-dollar contract to play Stephen Strange, something lots of actors no doubt would love to do?
Every time I see that kind of post I just... nope. NO! He's not guilty, okay? He's just a good actor, he's good looking and he's probably aware it sells. Why is that wrong? What's wrong is the system that exists making it acceptable to cast white people as characters of color.
I actually want to make a parallel to Picasso and how he viewed his work but I'd really rather not start a war.
i'm most definitely not going to watch the doctor strange movie now. oded fehr would have been the perfect choice. just like pedro pascal would have been. i am offended and raging at the thought of cumberbatch taking on the role. it's nothing more than hiring the 'actor of the moment'. i think there are no excuses whatsoever with what marvel has just done and i think not one of us should even try to find any. it's despicable and just.. petty. and though i love the character to bits i am most certainly not giving my money to people who think it's right ignoring wonderful, perfect actors for a part just because they want to make more money by using 'the white actor of the moment'. it's disgusting to even think about it. oded is basically already stephen, pedro too is so fucking similar to him. what, exactly, does anyone see in cumberbatch that makes them think 'yep, dr. strange right here'
