Thinking back across the Captain Underpants franchise, Iāve seen quite a few theories about the possibility of George and Harold having dormant superpowers of their own in some shape or form; be it shared telepathy between them or Harold being surprisingly strong for a boy his age, both of which are shown in the movie and series.
And I honestly agree with it, and I can actually think of a plausible source of how their untapped potential, along with something much deeper, was unlocked⦠and how it truly connects them with their greatest creation.
That source being the 3-D Hypno-Ring itself.
Before the Hypno Ring came into their lives, George and Harold just came across as your average (albeit incredibly creative and smart), mischievous, but still good-hearted pair of kids. But once they used that ring on Mr. Krupp, everything changed. Not just in him, but the two of them as well.
In the movie, it isnāt until after they use the Hypno Ring that the above mentioned out-of-the-ordinary occurrences with their physical and mental abilities happen.
And letās not forget the heavy implication of clairvoyance on their part.
No matter what the continuity, thereās a solid constant; from the moment they hypnotized Mr. Krupp and turned him into Captain Underpants, every single comic theyāve made involving him since that day has somehow become a reality.
Basically what Iām trying to say is this; the Hypno-Ring is much more powerful than George and Harold ever realized. Because not only did it unlock Mr. Kruppās ākernel of goodnessā (and was powerful enough to let the Captain Underpants persona remain even after the ring was destroyed in the movie), it awoke some latent powers within the two of them that makes them the perfect team in more ways than one.
Looking back on the scene in the Captain Underpants movie where George and Harold take Krupp home and snoop around his place, I canāt help but think of the large imprint on Kruppās bed in his body shape.
While yes, itās another glimpse of evidence towards his incredibly lonely life, it brought to mind an old phrase Iāve heard growing up in regards to anyone in a bad mood.
"Looks like somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed."
And considering Kruppās near-perpetual bad moodā¦
He didnāt just wake up on the wrong side of the bed, heās practically imbedded in it!
