yes? caspain was my first legal starter but azrael was my first pokemon. when az was a houndour he imprinted on me and my family moved to unova a couple months before i could legally become a trainer. it’s a bit muddy but yes my samurott was my starter.

hm so this one is a bit tricky and interesting. on some level yes, i'm probably more similar to arizona, but in many ways, callie and i are similar and i try to be as conscious of that as possible bc this is about calzona, not me. and yes, like most writers, i do take minor details from my own life and experience, etc to add some background color. but i'm also very careful to keep it as minor as possible and i do actually pretty equally split between the two as much as i can. really the last thing i ever want to do is have readers thinking that i've just completely self inserted into a fic, like actual worst nightmare. and personally, i don't think that i have?
my general guess is that it stands out a bit more bc it seems like there are a lot more established fanon things in calzona so hcs and background details that don't fit within established calzona fanon might seem more jarring? honestly idk what i'm say anymore hahaha
