What is CSID?
I scrolled the csid tag for a bit and only saw one post about it. There were no post with the full name In the tags either, so I decided to would be best to make an infographic post of sorts about the thing I have!!
tw - emetophobia warning, mentions of bodily fluids and medical stuff So, what is CSID? CSID stands for Congenital Sucrase-Isomaltese Deficiency. Congenital stands for present at birth, and sucrase-isomaltese are an enzyme (also called the SI enzyme I believe) located in the small intestine. tldr: It means a lack of the SI enzyme, sucrase and isomaltese. Side note, they may be two separate enzymes but I don't remember and Im tired so I'll look it up later. What does this look like, and what does the SI enzyme do? The symptoms of csid are: faliure to thrive, bowel irritation, diarreah, abdominal swelling, colic, indigestion and vomiting. For me, It also came with a lack of motivation, and it was hard to move at the worst bouts.
The SI enzymes helps in digesting sugars and starches (primarily sugars from what I'm aware but I may be wrong). Natural sugars tend to be more digestable, but it depends on the severity. I am an American, so I can only speak on the American treatment that I am aware of- that being Sucraid. Sucraid is a liquid medicine that your doctor can prescribe you (depending on your insurance/finacial situation it can get expensive, so be aware if you are seeking to get it). It is comprised of a water/glycerol? glyc-something solution, and the main ingredient is sacrosidase. Sacrosidase is the replacement enzyme. I get the single use packets- meaning that I have a gazillion tiny little plastic containers with the liquid in it- I have to put it in 8 oz of water and take with every meal. So, if you are out in the wild and see someone using a small little plastic syringe looking thing and pouring it in an oddly small glass of water- that may be someone with CSID! This was a very out of the blue post for me, but I haven't seen much on it so I thought posting some helpful info would be good. LMK if I should update with more info!
dude, seriously, what are you staring at?
I have done the exact same thing I just forget to put the sucraid in my water as well. I almost wish it was dyed so you could tell if you have put it in. Extra ingredients would probably make it so someone couldn't take it so maybe not. Anyways its wild how little people have CSID on this website, I knew there wouldn't be ton but there's like five people who have posted about it total.
Ugh itās the WORST when that happens. Thereās also been times where I put a fresh Sucraid bottle in my bag to go out for the day and at the same time, find an old one. And idk which one is the new one so I just put both of them in. A dye would be super helpful and Iām sure there are sucrose free dyes. I guess the hard part would be making sure it didnāt mess with the enzyme. Itās nice to hear from someone else going through the same thing!
I was so confused on why I was absolutely SUFFERING last week until I found an unopened enzyme container sitting in my pile of empties⦠oh my god I really just took it out of the fridge and imagined putting it in my water or something

Itās become so normal for me to see a new doctor and they say my condition is āvery rareā and theyāve ānever treated a patient with this conditionā but at least this new doctor I found said sheāll do some research on it and we have a follow up in 3 months so she can help me get to the bottom of it and see if it can be reversed
CSID Conference Highlights Urgent Need to Defend Democracy in the Muslim World
The Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID) held its 23rd Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., gathering prominent scholars, policymakers, and activists to discuss defending democracy in Muslim-majority countries amid rising authoritarianism. Dr. Radwan Masmoudi, CSIDās founder and president, opened the event by emphasising the urgency of supporting democratic movements, especiallyā¦
Binge mode just hit out of nowhere and I want to eat EVERYTHING and I canāt even do that because if I donāt take my enzymes Iāll be in so much pain I want to kill myself but I donāt want to take my enzymes!!! That doesnāt feel as primal as a binge needs to be
