Reuniting with a loved one
Tharinna, as the heir of House Crystmon, had to attend a lot of official trips. One day, she had to travel to Northrend, to take a look at their new property. A few days passed without any word. Evastra, Tharinnaâs mother was in the middle of getting some paperwork done, when a messenger arrived with a letter. She took it cluelessly, then set the messenger on his way. When she was alone again, she opened it, and after the first few words it struck her. Tears started flowing from her eyes as she tried to process the contents of the message, then she fell on her knees as het legs failed her. She let out a mournful cry, the kind only a mother can. It echoed through the halls of the house, luring the terrified Damera to her motherâs room. She heard Evastra sobbing like she never did.
âWhat happened?â she rushed in, fearing the worst. She kneeled beside her mother, putting an arm on her shoulder.
âTharinna isâŠ. deadâ she cried, falling in Damerâs arms.
âWhat? How?â she asked, then she noticed the letter. She took it with one hand, still holding her crying mother, and started reading it. Her eyes grow wider with every sentence, and her expression switched between terrified and disbelief.
In the message they explained that Tharinnaâs caravan was ambushed by followers of the Lich King. It was basically a scene of a massacre. Blood, dismembered and burnt corpses everywhere. There were men, women, even children among the victims, they took pity on no one. Most of the dead bodies were unrecognizeable, but the body count proved that no one was spared. The local trackers followed any lead they could for days, but all their efforts were in vain, they couldnât find the ones who did it.
âSisâŠâ Dameraâs voice was shaking, then her tears started to pour out. Their whole household were grieving for their lost mistress. Tharinnaâs funeral was held with an empty coffin in a few days, since all the remains were burnt at the site of the attack. Evastra was listening to the ceremony in dead silence. She never felt a pain this great in her 150 years. She accepted condolences, and even her daughters tried to comfort her, but it was all in vain. After losing her husband, now she lost her daughter too. Her heart was torn out, leaving nothing but emptiness. She was closing herself in her room, barely touching her food.
She got weaker each passing day, her body barely holding up anymore, until one day, about a week after the funeral, she was found dead in her room. Her heart stopped during the night, and she was free from mortal suffering. In the dark night, her golden, slowing soul ascended, then disappeared without a trace.
The next thing she knew, that she was in a place lit by very brightly glowing crystals.
âWhere am I?â she asked, a little frightened, then she felt a familiar presence. âYou came a bit early, but I donât mindâ came a voice from behind âIâve been waiting for so long my loveâ
âRathan?â she turned back, looking at her long lost husband through her tears âRathan!â she flew happily in his arms.
âEvastra, my dearâ Rathan held her tightly, gently kissing her lips. âYou suffered so much my love, but you need to know, that not everything is lost.â
âWhat do you meanâ she looked up at him.
âCome, look where fate takes our children, together.â
And the two souls merged once again, just like their bodies int he past.
