Omg, sorry for the long hiatus on Soul in Hiding! Working on the next chapter now, hopefully it’ll be up this week!
I have a personal head cannon about soul-sensing that I use in Soul in Hiding, and kinda wanted to talk about it.
So, basically, I head cannon that monsters, and boss monsters especially, have the ability to kinda sense someone else’s Soul. Its not a super special ability.
I think it’s akin to how shrimp see more colors than humans do. Maybe it’s easiest to say that it’s just an additional way that Monsters are able to perceive what’s around them (like shrimp and their colors! Or dogs and smells!)
And this soul-sense is more of a “oh, I know these people are around me even if I can’t see them” to a range around the monster, and that range varies on the individual. Age and power level definitely affect it, like a boss monster will generally have a greater range than a shyren, or a child would have less than an adult.
One thing that’s very unnerving about our lovely Reader in Soul in Hiding is that none of the skeletons can sense Reader in a way that Monsters normally are able to.
