I had to write this fanfic immediately!!!
The rain wakes you first.
Soft patters against the glass.
Then comes the movement beside you.
Haru is sitting upright at the edge of the bed, silver moonlight spilling across his bare shoulders.
He watches beyond the cracked window, at the rain that pours endlessly from the dark skies.
You know because this isn’t the first time.
Some nights, Haru disappears into himself without warning.
Usually, he laughs it off by morning. Usually, his eyes are closed with that careless smile of his.
But tonight, they’re open.
And they look unbearably sad.

Not the kind of sadness that cries loudly. Nor the kind that asks to be held.
The quiet kind. The kind that sits alone in the dark and stares out the window like it’s searching for something it lost years ago.
You wonder where he is right now. Because it’s not here. Not beside you.
He’s somewhere far away, buried deep in memories he never speaks about.
Haru only tells you the bright parts of his past. The funny stories. The joyful moments.
Never the things that hurt him. Never about the things that make him look like this.
Slowly, you reach for him.
Your fingers curl around his cold, metal hand.
For a moment, he says nothing.
Then he glances back at you over his shoulder.
“Did I wake you?” he asks softly.
He tries to smile, but his eyes remain distant.
And maybe that’s what hurts the most.
You want to ask him everything.
What are you thinking about? What is haunting you, even now? Why do you look so lonely even when I’m right here?
But the words get caught in your throat.
So instead, you sit up and wrap your arms around him from behind.
Haru lets out a quiet laugh.
You tighten your hold slightly.
This time, he doesn’t answer.
He simply turns in your arms and pulls you against him. Tight. Desperate.
To everyone else, Haru shines like sunlight.
But right now, he feels frighteningly fragile. Like he’ll break if he remembers anything more.
You feel his face press into your shoulder.
“What's up with you tonight?” he asks, voice muffled.
“I could ask you the same thing.”
Another soft laugh leaves him.
Instead, Haru takes a long deep breath. And exhales just as deeply.
His hand rises to cradle the back of your head, fingers threading gently through your hair.
Without a word, he guides you back down onto the bed and lays beside you.
Haru watches your glassy eyes.
Then smiles. It’s smaller this time. But real.
Cold metal touches your cheek as he tucks your hair behind your ear.
“Sorry for making you worry.”
You hold his prosthetic hand and press a soft kiss against it.
“You don’t have to smile for me,” you whisper. “You don’t have to explain anything either.”
Your fingers intertwine with his.
“Just stay here with me tonight.”
Those tired grey eyes soften slowly, like snow melting at the touch of spring.
Then he leans forward and presses his lips gently against your forehead.
“Goodnight,” he whispers.
You look at him one last time.
At those sad, beautiful eyes finally beginning to close again.
