Chapter 2: Fishbowl Clarke starts before the city wakes and isolates three red flags on project A12: a nighttime signature, fencing before approvals, and a missing fire report. She locks it into the record at the committee, signals a DA inquiry, and holds the press line—“law isn’t a brake; it’s the road.” Midday brings real residents with real worries; evening softens at home with Lizzie, where Clarke’s “harshness” equals protection. The night ends with a tighter to-do list and a quiet space instead of emptiness—tomorrow the paper war continues.

Chapter 12: Casualty Report
"Senator," said Lexa. For a second, their voices collided in the room. She didn't add "ma'am" or soften her tone into the armor of politeness. She simply acknowledged her presence. "Sergeant Graves?" Clarke repeated with a scoff that held not a trace of a smile. "Is that a surname or a warning?" Her voice trembled, not from fear, but from exhaustion: over the last twenty-four hours, she had been asked the same things too often, too politely, and too pointlessly. "Depends on who's listening," Lexa replied calmly. "I don't usually repeat warnings." Clarke let out a short, sharp laugh but couldn't sustain it. Her shoulders gave a slight twitch—a nervous impulse, not a gesture. The air in the room grew thicker. "I'll be asking questions," Lexa said, opening the folder. "Some will seem unnecessary to you. It's all for accuracy." "I've already been told that," Clarke replied wearily. Her voice cracked into a rasp, as if there was sand in her throat. "Everyone says that." Lexa didn't respond. The first page held a diagram of the hall, dates, times, signatures. She moved the sheet aside without looking at the woman opposite her.

New cover for Crossfire!🖤
I’ve wanted to update the visuals for a while now to better capture the actual vibe of the story — something more cinematic and heavy on the tension.
