It’s more likely than I thought!*
My OCD involves focusing on imperfections in/on my skin and picking at them, so to fight that urge, I made what I’m calling a Pocket Picky!
It’s simple single crochet, ten rows, with strange and wonderful beads/buttons crocheted throughout it! Don’t have strange and wonderful beads/buttons? Go to a thrift store, eBay (search for bulk beads/buttons) or talk to your crafter friends and see if they have bulk beads/buttons they’re willing to let you paw through! I got mine from my MIL.
To attach the beads/buttons, get a thin sewing needle and thread it with a medium-short amount of thread before cutting it and tying a knot at the end. When placing a bead/button, yarn over and start to make a single crochet, but rather than yarning over again, pull your hook out of the new loop (carefully) while leaving the original loop on your hook.
Next, thread the needle through the bead/button, then thread the needle through the dangling loop. Then pass the needle back through the eye of the bead/button. Grab the needle and end of its thread and pull until the dangling loop goes through the eye of the bead/button. Then remove the needle and thread, push the bead/button as tightly onto the loop as you want, put the loop back on the hook, and finish the single crochet stitch!
I finished my Pocket Picky with this stitch by Hooked By Robin, but you can do any border you want! I just recommend one that you’d like to play with as part of riding out your urge.
Let me know if any of you make one and if it helps!
*I don’t know if helps yet, I just finished it, and I still need to test it when my urges strike.
