āElder faerie views White Lily as a replacementā is already a bad take but I have been seeing people saying āSilent Salt views White Lily as a replacement for Elder Faerieā and in my opinion that is just as bad ? Because people are completely ignoring White Lilyās character in both of these cases ?
Omllll, I felt this in my soul anon, 'cause like- such a take makes zero sense when you actually look at the story??
From the very beginning, we've seen White Lily as someone who's never afraid to question things, travels wherever her heart takes her, and always carrying a "for the greater good"-type mindset when making tough decisions. Yes, she and Elder Faerie both had similar goals of wanting to improve & protect the world... but aside from that, they couldn't be more different when you look at their dialogue?
Elder Faerie is someone who remains steadfast by his "purpose"; guarding the Tree & keeping his kingdom safe/hidden from the world. Even if he sees White Lily's point in wanting to help Cookiekind, he clearly values her presence too much to want to see her sacrificed. Granted, he did end up giving his own life anyway to wake her up + stop Shadow Milk's schemes in Ch. 2, but either way the sentiment is clear:
Where White Lily sees little value in herself compared to bettering the world, Elder Faerie refuses to see a better world without White Lily in it šš
Tying back to Silent Salt as well; all throughout Ch. 11-12 we can see the contrast in his & Lily's views as they confront eachother. Lily refusing to give up hope in the world vs. Salt's stark judgement against her (+Cookiekind's) sins:
So, in-conclusion; for someone to look at all this in CRK's story... and still think Silent Salt just views White Lily as an Elder Faerie-copy (or alternatively; think Elder Faerie sees Lily as a Salt-copy)? ...Its just not right, no matter how you look at it šš
