This is NOT FLIRTING.

The very fact that the media say "flirting" is indicative of the fact that the cultural ideas we have around value, improvement, morality, ability and functionality are *rooted* in a a framework which is ableist and eugenic in nature.

Fundamentally, the idea that there are "good genes" and "bad genes" is saying there are "good" forms of embodymindedness and "bad" forms, and that we should remove or reduce the bad and increase the good.

This is biopolitics which is at the root of 19th, 20th and 21st century processes and horrors, and is not *just* racist, but is one of the major ORIGINS of racism as it manifests today, as well as a wellspring of sexism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, colonialism and capitalism.

We are enmeshed in the world eugenics and its proponents thought up, and wrought. It is so prevalent beneath the surface of how we relate to the world in terms of growth, progress, science etc, that we are like fish swimming in it.

This IS NOT JUST TRUMP. This is the ongoing pandemic, the manfacture of debility in marginalised populations for the benefit of those at the levers of power. This is the dismissal of Appalachian lives and folks in rural areas as low-intelligence inbred hicks who "should have known"/"should have moved" in the face of hurricanes. This the way standardised testing structures education on pass fail and grade curves. On and on, with countless more manifestations and iterations.

**We live in a eugenicised society.**

One that frames who should be improved, and how, on the basis of trajectories which begin by evalulating a being on how much it conforms to a certain set of criteria. We never ask where those criteria come from. We never consider that the liberal humanist agenda might also create folks who *don't fit*, in order to mark those who do.

We should. We should ask ourselves where "the human" even comes from.

Sometimes all I have/there is to offer, in times of excess? Is kenning via poetry:

WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HERE

Look, for all of you talking about rebuilding/building the village/solidarity, there's something you're going to deal with - the consequences of the pandemic. That's to say, so many people are and were willing to let disabled people die, to do your thing.

You're going to have to prove yourselves TRUSTWORTHY. The fact is, many of you have proven not to be, and are STILL re-perpetuating ideas and practices that are hundreds of years old, and, dare I say it: reactionary in nature even when dressed up in "progressive" ideals.

(Even progress-as-idea has major unexamined flaws).

You are performing, and have performed, actions which make you untrustworthy. And we see when you don't even CONSIDER that.

Because for all the talk about "including us" there's a whole BUNCH of reasons why disabled people DON'T want to be "included", to be "adjuncts", on the terms of the dominant status quo.

We need to be at the *heart* of the building. We need to be felt in our place at, and as its ROOTS. Where we always were, and are.

Because we have knowledge you lack. Ways of thinking and being that you lack. We always have, because we've had to. We don't exist at the pleasure of your "inclusion" but in SPITE of it.

Disabled people know what it is to be owned by earth, by a slope, by a lip, a root, a threshold, by wet grass. The golden sands of summer’s relief grasp wheels, catch canes, bog them down. It’s enough to make us realise we are not on land, but in land, embedded and entangled. What if, then, the human project is one of insulation?"

Wrote this in 2023 for a fairly well known international art-fashion mag. They didn't end up using it.

Welp, THE MOON & SERPENT'S BUMPER BOOK OF MAGIC is DEFINITELY Messr's Moore (ALAN) and Moore's (STEVE) Thesis Statement. Idiosyncratic, personal and grand in gesture, even if some specifics are based off some 'mistakes' held as occult realities despite scholarship. The essays alone are worth it, even if you don't agree with all of them, and are sat there going "Lads, that DOES NOT ACCORD with my experience." Really bloody pretty, which is to be expected. Very much worth it if, say you want to look under the hood/bonnet of a pair of artistic wizards and trace how its influenced their output.

I DO disagree violently with bits of it, as I expected to.

We see how your jetfuel and petrochemical emissions and smog poisons lungs already struggling to breathe. We see you, and part of us laughs because soon, you will know too. It will come upon you and many of you may beg to avoid such humiliation, such loss.

And we will strive to be kind. Kind because you will not, cannot embrace a disabled life as just as good as a nondisabled life. Cannot face what that would mean, if that were true.
