          SHE’D FOUND HIM IN THEIR ROOM, after her announcement, after her abdication & her banishment of Maximus. He was there, in the relative dark, staring out the window. Perhaps thinking about the future, like she had been this past week. It was a difficult decision she’d come to, one he would not appreciate, she was sure. But it would be better for both of them this way -- maybe one day he’d understand. 

After the mutants took Black Bolt, she came to realise just how much she still loved him. Despite everything he’d done in the past, speaking with him after it all, she realised he was sorry, truly. He even spoke to her; something she’d been dreaming about since their youth. She heard his voice, without something being ripped apart into billions of pieces.

He was her husband, & she loved him. & she was moving on from Earth. Despite how she felt about Johnny, she couldn’t expect him to follow her back to her ruined birthplace. He had ties here, even if his family was gone, his friends were here.

Medusa smiled softly at him as he turned around, stopping only when she was close enough to kiss his lips, which she did. Soft hand moved to cup his cheek, eyes slipping shut as she savoured his warm embrace one last time.

         “    Thank you. For all of it.    ”
