Some cards might not be a staple choice for every Deck available, but that doesn't mean that on particular strategies they can unleash powerful results to become a must have. This is not limited to archetype cards given their nature, but all sorts of cards which effects creates sinergy arround the Deck's options. A card that is at most efficient under certain scenarios can become one of the Deck's strongest tools to lead Duels with, so even though is not a popular pick doesn't mean player's must leave their guard open against the card's many possibilities.
"Creature Swap" is a nostalgic card for many veteran players, capable of powerful outcomes in Decks playing arround its unorthodox effect. "Creature Swap" forces players to choose a monster on their respective fields (This doesn't target), to end switching ownership as they go to the opposite sides of the field. Although we don't have the liberty to choose which opponent's monster we want, the many possibilities arround "Creature Swap" along the monsters we can give away made it a cult classic and even a key card for unusual Decks. From sinergy with certain effects to becoming a comeback card, "Creature Swap" is a fearsome card as potentially takes powerful monsters while also takes advantages for unusual yet devastating interactions.
The possibilities arround "Creature Swap" goes from very straightforward to creating entire setups arround its outcome, and all depends of the kind of Deck is added into. In most cases we will want to give away a weak monster to gain a powerful one in return, potentially creating an opening to cause some damage in our Battle Phase (Specially if we give away a monster with battle immunity like "Arcana Force 0 - The Fool"). Obviously is recommended to do so when the opponent has atleast one monster on the field, overall assuring what we will gain once "Creature Swap" resolves. However, in some specific Decks it won't matter which monster we obtain from the trade, as the monsters we will work with will become the true threat involving this card. "Creature Swap" gained most of its popularity by playing along Spirits and later on Yosenju, as due their demerit of returning to our hand when the turn ends assures the opponent won't keep any monsters on their side of the field (As well gaining the stronger effect of "Legacy of Yata-Garasu" arround Spirits). Some others will take advantage of monsters with searching effects when defeated in battle, taking down the monster we just gave away and obtain a new one from our Deck. Then there are Decks that tries to exploit unusual effects by working with "Creature Swap" and similar options, like "Ameba" causing damage once changes ownership or tributing opponent monsters with Kaijus or "Lava Golem" to then send them to our side of the field ready to battle. With some Decks going even further with these mechanics thanks to similar effects like "Switcheroroo" and "Mystic Box" (As well "Creature Seizure" and "TG1-EM1" in themed builds), is possible to make a strategy constantly stealing opponent monsters while giving away monsters with favorable setups. Be aware that if "Creature Swap" affects a monster in a Extra Monster Zone will end in the Main Monster Zone on the other side of the field.
Although not a recurring Spell Card, "Creature Swap" is that kind of card that many players recognizes its strong potential in all sorts of situations. The average Deck will simply use it to steal a powerful monster while giving a weakling in return, overall a fearsome outcome capable of stealing games under the right circumstances. But some players will go a step further and create even stronger setups by simply trading away monsters, ranging from its staple position in Spirit Decks to more unusual setups like Β "Ameba" and in-battle effects. Obviously the main problem of "Creature Swap" is that will rely on the opponent's field for its best results, and while some Decks won't care which monster they gain in the trade is still preferable to obtain some of the opponent's best monsters in the outcome. With an effect that gained diversity on its uses, "Creature Swap" ranges from a comeback tool to a core card for obscure strategies.
Personal Rating: A
+ Switches the control of two monsters on each side of the field + High comeback potential if we give a weak monster + Great sinergy with Spirit and Yosenju monsters as well creating unusual strategies
- Reliance on the opponent's field since we cannot choose which monster we want in the trade
