Quick heads-up about a scam I almost fell for! (Please read!)
Hi everyone! I wanted to quickly share something that happened to me recently, just in case it helps keep any of you safe.
I got a message from an account claiming they "accidentally reported my Tumblr" and urging me to talk to a "staff member" on Discord to fix it. Thankfully, I learned this is a really common phishing scam designed to get access to your account! So I didn't fall into the trap 💪😊
The main takeaways:
- NEVER trust anyone DMing you saying they "accidentally reported" your account. It's a lie to make you panic.
- Official platform support (like Tumblr's) will ONLY contact you via email (your registered email, from an official domain). They will never ask you to go to Discord or another chat app for support.
Your account is probably fine! False reports rarely lead to action.
