Today I didn’t go to work. I finished most of my pending work and most of my responsibilities have moved to the following day. So I decided to attend the Noon class at the gym.
It was my first time changing my schedule to go and hit the some training. Definitely different vibes from the afternoon/night class.
Just like a typical person suited up and was ready to train. Today lesson was kamura from someone taking a single leg 🦵. Pretty interesting on choosing that option. I never process a single leg take down turn into a kimura. As my first reaction I would always drop back and hold the head. This was more of my defense reaction. It was interesting learning the figure 4 lock and using based in order to break their grip and you moving quickly to kamura and on to their back. The professor also showed us what would happen if they defended. The important of following the turn while putting pressure on their shoulders blades for them not to frame up. Also If the person continue to rotate around us or drop to the floor and how we maintain control of the head and hands. This was very useful for me on how to use it properly after during a open mat. I wasn’t able to get the kimura but was able to avoid the single leg that allowed me to move and break free for my own takedown and advance their guard.
After this session I decided to go home load up on some proteins and rest. I decided to attend the evening class. This class was similar but this was defending if someone’s grab you from behind around your waist. How to base and break the grips with a figure 4 lock as well and turn into a kimura. This was different due bc a lot people always move to get your back and I didn’t know what to do but base. Now being able to understand kimura from earlier class this made it easier for the late class. We also learn to sweep from butterflies position. The best way I was able to understand this. Is how my professor said it pretend you are a ball. don’t sweep laying back if not going on your side like a ball.
