Creative Force.
Past loves, two creative forces, forge an interesting and unexpected connection. Here’s to a surprising coupling Jean-Michel Basquait and Madonna. They enjoyed a brief love affair between the years of 1982-83. During this period, Basquait’s work was exhibited in the West Hollywood Gagosian gallery. Basquait also lived in Larry Gagosian’s home and during this time Madonna also lived at the residence for a couple of months. The pair were on the cusp of international fame and stardom. Jean-Michel Basquiat, graffiti artist turned painter, was fast emerging as a star of the 1980s New York art scene and Madonna a pop star in the making, having just released her debut single "Everybody". Their fleeting relationship, yet intense love affair still represents a very special moment in history. A time when all the creative energy seemed to be bubbling on the streets of downtown New York.
