a double drabble for @polyamships' multiamory march day 2 - matching accessories
The ribbons were a gift from the children. Mallory Throckbridge had taught them how to weave braids with loops, and once they'd gotten home Ma and Mr. Frodo let them loose at their shared stash of embroidery thread. Soon what felt like every spare stool at Bag End was surrounded by children working on crafts. There were several faunts to a chair, each leg of the stool serving as an anchor for the colorful threads they were braiding. Knots were untangled and scissors were borrowed, and at the end of it all they'd produced a substantial pile of ribbons on the floor which they proudly presented to their parents.
Frodo wore them as ties and bracelets to accentuate his fine clothes. He'd beam whenever guests asked where they'd come from.
Rosie wove them into her hair. There'd be a strand of color within a braid or a pretty bow tied together for a headband. The only times she was without one was during bedtime.
Sam's ribbons weren't seen as much at home, but they were littered all around the Mayor's desk. Adorning his drawer handles and penholders, they reminded him of home whenever his duties began to grate on him.
