I'm less of a clothing reactionary than I let on sometimes but the one thing where I just will not budge is foam shoes. No amount of Reputable Japanese Fashionistas will make foam shoes not ugly. As objects of style they only work with an oversized streetwear aesthetic that, frankly, reputable japanese etc notwithstanding is simply always a bit Biggie Smalls.mp4 and attempting to import them into anything else is disastrous because they're simultaneously too flimsy to be outdoorsy and entirely too fucking big to work with anything that is meant to look fitted. Yes, I realize that wrapping your feetsies in a whole bunch of foam is comfy. No, I don't care. It looks stupid. Wear literally anything else. Unless you're running. You should probably wear foam shoes for running.
A lot of guys seem to think that if they get made fun of once they'll be forced to immediately perform harakiri. This is a perfect recipe for remaining a recluse. If you're too insecure to get over it just join a boxing gym or similar until you can fight people about it.

Zurich is a sartorially interesting place. Of course it is and always has been a part of greater Germany, so most people dress terribly. However, it is also increasingly a part of greater Italy, if only due to the fact that over the past decades the demographic weight of Italian and para-Italian ethnic groups has crept up. And so people wear clothes in questionable cuts in the German manner, but often lack the dour chromatic conservatism that tends to go with it there. Pastel colors are acceptable business wear almost regardless of register. There's a lot of brown. The old Italian gentlemen canonize the chinos-knitwear-and-sports-jacket look.
I work in a part of town where there are quite a few corporate offices and it's been striking how much the style of the average wearer of suits to work appears to have converged on sometimes quite brightly-colored plaids. The obstinate wearers of navy blue are now to be found in the hoodie department. And then there's me. Due to my agonies.

I kind of wish my job was funded by taxpayer money so I could be less mad about the pan-western feudal oriental despotism. What’s the point of Are Democracy when in the lowest-tax jurisdiction with a real economy the state takes 25% of what it costs to employ you and in most jurisdictions it’s close to 50%
