There's a long-running, two- fold theory as to why giraffes have such long necks. Part one is pretty straightforward: long necks can reach leaves on tall trees. The other? Longer necks on male giraffes make them better fighters. How does a male giraffe fight off a potential rival? By "necking", a pretty hilarous looking method of fighting where the giraffe will swing its head into another giraffe as hard as it can. Almost like a really awkward looking headbutt. However, another more recent study suggests that neck length also might help giraffes regulate their body temperatures (Mitchell et al. 2017). Whatever the reasoning behind their stretched out look is, they pull it off! Have you tried these? This month with @stabilouk I was given the opportunity to try out their Green Range of which are environmentally friendly pencils and colouring pencils. I loved the texture of the pencils themselves and they were really soft and smooth and lovely to hold. They sharpened well in my electric sharpener which is very useful to know and they glided beautifully on the paper of my colouring book. The colours are vibrant but take a lot of laying for a solid colour. They do layer well and blend nicely together. I recommend checking out this range if you are interested in products that protect the environment and create great art.
