It all started when Eggman invented a machine (for his plan to defeat Sonic) so that he and Sonic could have a hybrid. But when Eggman and Heartbot were absent from the lair due to a battle with Sonic, Orbot and Cubot accidentally turned on the machine. A laser beam from the invention hit them, and both of them "gave birth" to Cowardbot. Orbot and Cubot were shocked by this, but they had to care for the baby robot like their own son.
