final deadline week and my last week of my first year of uni! it's gone so quickly and it's been stressful but i've absolutely loved it. time to work hard for that amazing final grade 💪🏼📚

Word of the Week - “Feedback”
There’s a lot to write about this word. Feedback is something that can be good, bad or in between. Usually people like when it is good and nothing else, despite if it is real feedback or not. I’ve received and give real feedback, either they like what I’m saying but the truth is, you need to be neutral when it comes to feedback. Constructive feedback, real feedback are always the best type of feedback you can give or received from others. I rather received feedback that will make me improve and fix what needs to be fixed than a feedback that comforts me. Giving a good feedback consist in stating what you’ve observed, suggest improvements , concrete next steps to make it better, sincere, timely, specific, meaningful or behavioral and many other points.
Lately, the only time I can get this type of feedback from someone that actually knows what they are doing are the teachers and just a little group from my class mates. I think most of them are afraid to be sincere and to give their honest feedback in order to make the person who’s receiving feedback to improve. And others basically have lack of experience or words and they don’t explain exactly how can we improve. They just stay with basic words like “It’s good”, “I like it”, “I like the colours”, “Nice job!”. It is positive feedback but there’s nothing we can pick up from these words and make our work better. In other cases, some of my colleagues and teachers give the exact feedback that I need to hear, constructive, sincere and specific to the point. Everyone shouldn’t be afraid to give feedback to others, even if they are insecure of what they are saying. But they really need to be honest and say how they are feeling.

An Influential Lecture
For this blog, I am going to be focusing on an event from the past in my modules during the first semester.
Simon Myers
I am going to be talking about a guest speaker in one of my lectures, Simon Myers. He is a comic book artist and illustrator that now works for a comic book publishing company for Doctor Who comic books. I’ve taken a liking to him because of his passion for illustration and comic books as it is one of my current aspirations I am personally trying to develop towards drawing/illustration skill sets. Throughout the lecture, I found out about his struggles he’s endured in his journey with trying to reach what he has aspired to become. When something like that was mentioned I asked myself that this will never end, will it? Within this, I learned that I won’t be able to easily reach the destination that I desired to aim and that at some point I will also have to confront some of my own hardships before I achieve it.
Why this was important to me
Despite these hard facts, I also learned about his illustration processes for the art he produces for comic book publications such as his techniques and methods. All of this is relevant to me because I have recently tried to get back into drawing so that I am able to identify my own art style and the focus on how I could translate this into an illustration. In order to identify an appropriate art style to my suitability, I’m exploring the various comic book and illustration artists.
My aspirations in this topic
One of my achievements for this kind of practise is creating a book cover for an illustration module I studied. Required to make my own character and use it to develop it. My future aspirations are to improve my drawings and illustrations so that may become an asset in my future graphic design career.
