Getting Research Project Started
For my project i selected the GapMinder Database, using the pdf and csv provided on the course.
The democracy is a topic i’ve been interested in recently, so i will like to see the realtion between democracy scores and well being (this term usually includes health, happiness, and prosperity).
I created my personal codebook including the variables: incomeperperson, employrate, lifeexpectancy, polityscore and suicideper100TH. Using this variables i will try to see the relationship between the polityscore and well being. Then I looked for related articles on Google Scholar, including the keywords polityscore, well being, income, emplyment, democracy and Health.
The quick research indicates that low democracy scores are usually associated with low public health spending. Also, low democracy scores are related with less income per person.
Hypothesis: Higher Polity Scores are associated with greater well being in the population of a country.
