last minute tips for second yr utm students (bc they are the most confused)
So you bullshitted, cried and bribed your way through first year and attained a GPA high enough to escape academic probation but low enough to be rejected from Subject POsts.
OR you don't have enough credits to be accepted into any Subject POSts yet.
OR for some stupid reason, you were a lazy bum and you didn't apply to anything in the first round. (idiot)
Thursday is right around the corner, you have checked your start time and even made a mock schedule (or maybe you're loafting on that too.)
APPLY FOR TYPE 1 SUBJECT POSTS
http://www.utm.utoronto.ca/registrar/sites/files/registrar/public/shared/pdfs/registrationguides/RETURNINGstudentsOnlyFWregGuide.pdf
(look at the table on page 13 of the pdf file)
you MUST enroll in the MINIMUM amount of subject POSts by Thursday OR ROSI WILL BE THE DUMB BITCH THAT IT IS AND NOT LET YOU PICK COURSES.
Once you're in the minimum amount of subject POsts you can pick your courses at your start time (unless there are restriction controls on the courses for which you don't meet)
The minimum requirements are:
Honours BA or BSC degree : 1 specialist, 2 majors, 1 major + 2 minors
BComm: Specialist in Commerce
BBA: Specialist in Management
******TIPS for BSc students:
*if you're interested in bio programs: apply to the bio minor as it will let you pick the 2nd yr bio courses on Thursday. IF YOU DON'T you won't be able to pick any of the cool bio courses because they all have restricted enrollment.
*Psychology courses are also restricted enrollment and there is not type 1 subject Post to help you out in this case. so if you haven't applied to been accepted to a psych program yet, good luck getting into the courses once the restrictions are lifted!
*Stats and chemistry courses are open to everyone
*People interested in enrolling in anthro courses should apply to the anthro minor (it's type 1)
*I don't know anything about any other courses. Go figure that out yourself. (Good luck, may Rosi be forever in your favour).
AFTER PICKING COURSES, go back into ROSI on JUNE 17 and add the actual subject POsts you want (the type 2 and 3 ones). Once you get accepted into these, leave the temporary Type 1 POsts you added.
Let me know if this helped at all!
(Of course you should always check with the registrar for more information or if you want to clarify some stuff. Their website has tons of info or you could go in as well! )
