Reflections from the Counter-ACT Protest: Today was the first time I've ever been scared going to a protest. Like I've always been like, no biggie, let's just go out and stand up for what we believe. But this was the first time a rally was held solely to attack who we are as people. Like usually it's less overt hate, so it's easier to digest. But I went anyway, and the support I saw way amazing. It's it's so nice to see so many allies in the community. On a more serious note, there was a point when I felt very uncomfortable. Towards the end there were people from our group who started to chant hateful things about the police and flip off the other side, who we were face to face with. That is not okay. I understand that these people had the privilege of not being being the target of the anti-Muslim rally, but they need to understand that if they're going to be a good ally to brown people who are literally facing people who do not want them to exist, and you're attacking the only people standing between us.
