Hands trembling she presses the buttons to close the elevator doors. As the expected pull from the ascent came, she felt right at home. How an enclosed space, a claustrophobic’s worst nightmare, could feel this way she has no clue. She remembers the days spent rushing through these doors, determination mixed with adrenaline rush would push them to put another madman behind bars. There was also a time when she rode the same elevator not dreaming she would be the day before; being a captive in an unknown place sort of does that to a person. Never was she abandoned, they never failed her; they always found her, always. Her family. After reminiscing she can’t help but feel that all she did was let them down. They always went out of their way to find her, every time, yet in the end she chose to be left alone. Will they welcome her with open arms now that she’s back again, now that she has found her way home on her own? A tugging on her right hand brings her back to reality. “Ima, are you okay?” A smile slowly erases the frown on her face as she focuses on her child. Their child. “Yes my child, abba is waiting for us.” She answers just as the elevator doors reveal the pumpkin colored room. Silently, they both enter the room not wanting to disturb anyone. There they were, her family. Focused with whatever was on the screen before them. Then, as though his paternal instincts tingled, he turned and instantly saw her. Took him a while but he smiled, his version of one. The man beside him, noticing that Gibbs was not paying attention anymore, turned to see what had distracted him or whom. Then he saw her, and a smaller version peeking from behind. All thoughts of being over her thrown out the window. That was when they all turned. Gibbs, Tony, McGee and another lady. Her replacement, she realizes. Just as she was about to break down in tears, out of nowhere, someone hugs all life out of her. “What took you so long, Bert was getting impatient. Saved all his... air for you as revenge.” She laughs with the rest of them. She need not to worry after all. She was always welcome here. Always. How I envision Ziva’s comeback. #YesPlease
