intro:
Jordan Wilson and Lucy Thomas have been best mates since that fatal day at the pub. Lucy in a state, and Jordan was the only person who could take her mind off things. They are now in year 11, and Jordan is still the shoulder Lucy leans on
angst/fluff,
Warning: abuse (physical) I will put a ✧ ˚ before and after if you want to skip, but it's nothing too graphic.
The pair walked into school; the environment familiar, but the faces not. Luna looked around, making eye contact with a girl in a hijab who sent her a stern glare. Making the girl look down quickly. She doesn't know what she's gonna do. School was shit enough as is, now there's a bunch of people who, judging by that interaction, don't like her much. Jordan looked down at Lucy, then followed the direction of her gaze. Glaring back at the stranger. If Jordan was gonna do one thing, it was protect Lucy.
Lucy felt a gentle tap on her shoulder. She turned to face the booth girl, who had a small, sincere smile on her face. Luna smiled back. She liked Missy; she was nice and pretty. Missy lifted a small pouch, making the makeup inside it rattle. She pointed to it, her grin widening. "Come on, then let's get you sorted!" she was excited. I mean, it's not every day you get to do your boyfriends or partners. Whatever they are. Little sisters makeup.
"We are stealing her Jordan, sorry, not sorry." Missy grabbed the girl's wrist, turning her toward the school. Only then did Lucy see Nas standing behind Missy. Offering her the same shy smile. "Bye, Jordi. I'll see you in form," Lucy spoke softly, walking backwards. Jordan gave her a two-fingered salute with an annoying grin. He was happy she was with people other than him and girls at that. Not that it looked like it was her choice, but he trusted Missy with her.
Lucy is sitting on the counter in the space between the sinks. Missy up in her face, trying her best to conceal the bruise that had formed under her eye. "So what happened?" Nas asks the person leaning against the cubicle opposite. Her arms crossed and her eyebrows drawn, she was confused at who would do this to a girl who, in her eyes, had never done anything wrong ever.
Missy shushes her, "No questions. Harry said. So shut up!" She turns to look at Nas, pointing at the girl with a makeup brush. Who put her hands up in defence.
"It's ok. I was play-fighting with Jordan. It's my fault," Lucy mumbles, slightly scared of the older girls. Missy wiped back around at her words. A small smile rose on her face.
"Oh, you and Jordan hu... 'play fighting'" she wiggled her eyebrows at the girl. Lucy's face heats up immediately. Her cheeks were flushed in a red hue. Eyes widening, and head shaking vigorously.
"No, no, no, no, not like THAT... me and jor- we don't - not... no" she panicked, stuttering and mixing up her words. The two other girls just laughed gently at her. "Don't worry, Missy was just messin." Nas steps forward, putting a hand on Lucy's shoulder. Missy stepped back from the girl.
"and done! Beautiful, might I say." Lucy jumped off the counter and looked back into the mirror; the bruise was basically gone. She turned back to the two girls, smiling back at them,
"Thanks. I'd better go now, I've got form with Mister Bell," she quickly tried to walk away, grabbing her bag from the floor. Till she felt someone step in front of her.
"Brill me to!" Missy grabs the girl again. "Ta-ta!" she waved shortly at Nas, pulling the younger girl with her.
Lucy slumped down into the chair next to Jordan, the rest of the class chatting around them. "It looks better. Missy did a good job." Jordan leaned back on his chair, poking her cheek. She slapped away his hand.
"Just cuz you can't see doesn't mean it doesn't hurt dickhead." She glared back at him, earning a chuckle. The boy is balancing back on his chair with his foot on the one in front. Lucy kicked his foot off the chair, causing the boy to wobble "Oi!" he looked to the girl to see her giggling, making him smile. He would do anything to see that. Recently, it's been a rarity. The girl got shy and stopped talking to people as much. Her group is very limited.
Their attention was drawn back to the front by their new form tutor, Mr Bell. "Excuse me, I'll just wait till you've finished, then shall I?" he speaks over the class, making them go quiet, while someone apologises. "My name is Mr Bell-" "end" some boy sat behind Jordan yells. The room laughs.
"Very original," she rolls her eyes at the boy. Jordan nudges her with his elbow, motioning to the front. Seeing Mr Bell looking at her with raised eyebrows, "Sorry, sir," she mutters, looking down at her lap.
He carries on, "right when I point to youse, I want you to shout out your names. loud and proud. go!" he clicks, pointing at Missy's little sister.
"Hayley, booth," she said as she stood up slightly. Mr Bell goes round pointing as people shout their names. Till he gets to Lucy. "Lucy Thompson." She stays seated but raises her voice. Hear her heart beating in her chest. "Aah, a Thompson. Harry, your brother?" he gets a small nod back." I've already told him off once today. Hope you aren't in the same trouble." She shakes her head at him, the man smiling at her before pointing towards Jordan.
"Abdullah bin Kevin," he smirks, knowing it will get people off. "Jordan!" Lucy shoves him harshly. Her brows furrowed, looking at the boy in front of her, disappointed. People are yelling at him, understandably so. he looks around and back at the girl, feeling a twinge of regret.
"Alright, Joker, what's your real name?" Mr Bell talks to Jordan. "It is my real name in a revert." Jordan looks back. "Stop being such a bellend." Lucy slaps him again, more seriously this time.
Razia speaks up from across the classroom. Naz's little sister, who's sat next to Hayley. "pervert, more like it" "don't take the mick." Someone replies, but Lucy wasn't paying attention; she was trying to make eye contact with Jordan. He is actively avoiding it. He knew it was wrong, but she just didn't know what could have possibly possessed him to say that.
"his name is Jordan Wilson and he's a wind-up!" Hayley tells Mr Bell, looking at Jordan. Mr Bell nods at her as a thanks. "Alright, Jorden Wilson, wind up," he points his pen towards the boy.
